engine oil / gasoline scent????????????
I recently got my engine fully rebuiilt (2000 ls1). Eversince then, when my car warms up, (EVEN WHEN I START HER UP EVERY NOW AND THEN IN THE WINTER TIME) the oil pressure drops. I cannot remember to what kpa, but i will get that #. Secondly, there seems to be a gasoline smell coming from the engine oil, dipstick and oil cover. Is this normal??????????????????????

Re: engine oil / gasoline scent????????????
I had a gas smell on an 89 Formula 350. Turned out to be ECM. It was firing injectors excessively, flooding the engine. When I pulled my dipstick, it was about 1/4" too high. Oil reeked of gas.
A rebuilt ECM from Checkers and an oil change and it was good to go.

ECM = Engine Control Module
On the LS1 cars, I believe they actually use the term PCM for Powertrain Control Module .
I dug thru my handy dandy web link to TSB's , but did not see anything -

Perhaps I missed something.

Re: ECM = Engine Control Module
When I posted about my experience, one guy said he had seen it happen with 4th gens, but he didn't specify if LS1s or LT1s.

Re: ECM = Engine Control Module
I had a problem with fuel diluting the oil, when my car was running rich, and I accidently put the pcv in backwards... So not only was fuel getting into the oil, but the pcv couldn't pull any vapors out either...
I fixed both problems at the same time, and it hasn't happened anymore.
