Question Engine Taking a Crap on me??

Hey got a 98 camaro ss with 17k miles. I have noticed that recently my oil pressure switch on the dash around 2000 rpm will drop down to near zero and i got scared and my oil is fine, full...Talked toa serivce manager and said it could be the oil pump, cam bearings going out, or the oil pressure sending switch...anyone have the same problem...My oil pressure it about 50-60 and idle but flucuates to near zero when driving...let me know
Erik

Sorry to hear about that.

It very well could be your oil pump. There
have been cases of the oil pressure bypass
valve sticking in the open position. This
would cause low oil pressure. I would check
the simply stuff first, oil pressure sensor,
wiring, etc., but it could be the bypass
valve.

With your low miles I doubt you have worn
bearings, but they will wear quickly if the
oil pressure stays low for too long.
