Magnaflow is popular cause it has a nice rumble without being too loud at WOT, flows well, good price, and is stainless steel. I really like the way the tips look. For those reasons, I chose it for my SS. The Z already came with it on there, so it saved me the cost of doing it myself. Some pics of the SS with it:

Well i just got my z in may and the person who owned it befor me had put an american thunder flowmaster on it. Is it really worth ditching? I guess what i am saying is does it really choke it that bad? keep in mind the whole cars stock. Im not sure but i dont think i would feel a difference if i switched to hooker for example.

 

I wouldn't worry about it. In your case it isn't going to be THAT much of a difference. I anything, keep the pipes and get a different muffler.

 

yeah i was just thinking that. louder would be nice. it doesent make to much noise now. But i think thats cuz i am used to my old car with basicaly stright pipes lol. any ideas on what will fit inside thoes pipes

 

I'm running pacesetter LT's , texas speeds catted y-pipe and the hooker catback and it sounds great, not too loud when you get on it but definately way better than the stock system!

don't worry about the flowmaster. i would highly doubt it is robbing you of any power, now you may only be gaining 2-4hp out of it but that's not enough to worry about if you are planning on keeping the car mostly stock.

if nothing else have a $30 cutout welded in, for the occasional day you want to wake the neighboors

worst ground clearance of any header...do a search

 

Yeah the car i dont think will ever be any thing crazy. Im in Collge and have very lilttle money so the most it will ever have is intake and LT's but i have really been thinking about getting a cut out.

 

mine HAS to be emissions legal, so does that mean i Can't run LT's and have to run shortys?
i basically want the best bang for the buck. is the Loudmouth 2 sound any good?

 

Depends on your state. In TX you can have LTs as long as you still have cats (& EGR if it came with it).

 

Not totally true, they just hook up the ECU and look for codes around here. If you have the rear O2's, EGR, and AIR deleted then you're fine if they're all removed.

I understand the math and the physics behind exhaust velocity well. A 4" will not hurt performance, but a 3" will hold it back. I've done it and I've seen it done by others.

You also need to realize that mufflex also makes a 3.5" catback. Just because I suggest mufflex doesn't mean I'm suggesting the 4". BTW, if you READ I actually listed the 3.5" first.

So tell me, why should this guy buy a catback that he'll outgrow and will hold him back if he mods?

Do you live in TX? You are really popping off on things that you know nothing about here.

I have ERG, AIR, and the rear O2's deleted. AIR and EGR are both physically removed from my car and I have had no problems passing emissions. Neither do guys running LT's no cats, dumped true duals and no EGR/AIR around here.

Get a clue.
