Post First Real Car - How do you turn off Traction Control?

First - I didnt know manual transmission cars had traction control - but after trying to race off the start my first time in my new car... So how do I turn off Trac Control? Is it that switch next to the fog lamps? ASC or something? I'd look in the manual, but they didnt give me one! lol.

First - Trac Control turned on, and... well... that didnt help any.

Second - I missed second gear, lol... Oh well, I'll learn eventually.

It woulda been nice, against a Cobra =) Are they a challenge, btw? Like 70 more hp and tq, but is it all hype?

There is a switch marked "ASR" (Acelleration Slip Reduction ... I think)

Hit the switch, the light turns off and a light on the dash turns on. "ASR OFF"

If you want it to always be off when you start the car, there is a module you can buy and plug into the harness which keeps ASR turned off until you turn it on.

Personally, it doesn't bother me to have it on when driving around town, but if I'm about to "get on it" then I just reach down and turn it off. (Pontiac puts the switch in a poor location ... down in front of the shifter ... I liked the high location above the radio in my Camaro better)

Hope that answered your questions. Enjoy your "real" car !

I've heard

As long as you dont use cruse control or stay at the same speed for a long distance

As long as you dont abuse the car, WOT all the time, Red-Lines, etc

As long as you dont baby it completely

That is break-in for the car. I'm going to the dealership tonight to pick up the manual, which I never recieved...

You'll probably find that it becomes habit to turn off the ASR whenever you get in the car - I'm glad that my car doesn't have it, but my buddy's T/A does have it, and he NEVER uses it! Learn to drive and control your car, and then you never have to worry about being embarrassed in a race again!

One quick question: do ya like the LS1, or what?!
