First Track Time on 99SS

Took the 99 SS for its very first time to the track this past weekend; and since it was my first time on the track with a 6 speed, it was an experience to say the least! Both of my previous Camaros (97 and 00 Z28)were A4 with a high stall, so the 60' times made me sick!

I am still getting used to launching a 6spd, and I'd love to run drag radials, however, my experience with the rear ends doesn't really instill any confidence.

Here are my times for your critique:

Best E/T: 13.44 @ 107.81, 2.195 60'
Best MPH: 13.53 @ 107.87, 2.232 60'
Weirdest Run: 14.00 @ 106.81, 2.636 60' (high MPH )

All in all, I was pretty proud of how the car ran considering it is stock except for a lid and cutout. The MPH really surprised me!

It's frustrating to think that if I could have the money back from the mods on my 97 that brought it to 13.3 to spend on the 99, this car would be smokin'.

not too bad.. BUT NOT STOCK!
hehe

Just a peeve of mine.. pay me no mind..

As for the M6 launching.. TELL ME ABOUT IT! hehe Its not anywhere near as easy as an A4 !

You weird run has a high 60' that would account for the 14 sec... did you spin?

What were you trying to launch at? What kind of tires?

As for the rear end... I am getting drag radials soon and if it goes it goes.. hehe

Let us know the fate of the rear end... best of luck to you!

Oh, and I consider 'stock' and 'bone stock' as too entirely different definitions I think a car with an air intake modification (pre throttle body, short of forced induction) and exhaust (from the cats back) can still be considered as 'stock.'

Thumbs up

Very nice. I've heard that trap speed defends on hp and time depends on the launch. That explains you high time AND high speed. I have to agree with mr. cabbage. Stock is how the car was the day it left the factory. Just an opinion. No matter. Nice run. You'll only get better.
As for drag radials, the extra traction combined with a hard launch will take its toll on the rear end. I've seen it, and heard it. Use caution and hold on.

my ¢.o2 on rear ends..
If you worry about them all the time you arent going to be getting the most out of your car.. Sooo, decide now if this is what you want to do with your car. If not, stop modding and just use it as fun transportation. If so, get the $ ready for a new rear end and go to town.. if it breaks AAA is just a call away!

I am not going to worry about it.. I will just drive until it or something breaks.. then upgrade!

again, that was just my ¢.02...

Good day..

Nice times. You shouldn't have any problems hitting 13.3s. I made my first runs at the track on a rather hot and muggy night and got a best of 13.36 @ 106 after I burnt the stock clutch to hell on the juice. Never did get to run the juice that night w/o big problems. Only mods at the time were cutout, lid/filter, Nittos and free mods. I still could not get off the line and only managed a 2.1 60ft on that run, with the clutch slipping severely. A 3rd gear dyno pull showed that I made 280hp and 296tq on a Dynojet with only the air filter.

Get back to the track and kick some ***!!
