First Tuneup for Z28's LS1
Happy New Year All -- I purchased my first Z28 in March 2005; it now has 50,000 miles and no documentation of tune-up. Have switched oil to Mobile 1syn, stock airfilter to KandN, and stock air box to SLP. Muffler swapped out to Magaflow. Otherwise all is bonestock. Question is: Am I ready for first tune-up at 50K or not? MPG wise I am getting 19 to 22 in everday daily driving and 23-25 on highway. Are some plugs better than others? Any thoughts would be be appreciated by this Camaro newbie.

Those MPG numbers sound fine, assuming you're in an A4 car (automatic transmission). If you're in an M6, you should be getting a little better than that on the highway (25-29).
A tuneup never hurts. Pull the front plug on the driver side and have a look -- if it's fouled, you should probably change them. The rear two on the passenger side are a pain in the *** -- good luck! I'm not sure if there's a particular brand of plugs or wires you should look for -- mine are still stock.
Welcome to the boards! Enjoy your new car. I got mine in August '05 and I'm sure looking forward to the spring thaw!

Re: First Tuneup for Z28's LS1
i've changed spark plugs on 2 cars, a 96 LT1 and my 99 LS1...both had ~50K miles.
both had the platnum puck missing from 4 of the 8 plugs!!!
GM is full of it when they say the plugs are good for 100K miles!!!
if the wires are in good shape, not cracked and are not arching (look at them in the dark) than you really don't NEED new wires. but it can't hurt. check out the Taylor Spiro Pros, they are good wires, and are only about $45 from any of the site sponsors.
wouldn't hurt to run some seafoam through the engine, gas and oil. do a search on how to do it.
i would suggest changing the trans and rear end fluid....just so you know they are good and when to do future changes. may as well get everything starting at zero so it's easier to keep track of

My friend has the Taylors on his car and loves em. He also used NGK TR-55 plugs this time around as well and he like his setup overall. Not to mention he also saved a few bucks over the stock Delco plugs/wires.

Most people use NGK TR-55 plugs or AC Delco Platinums. For wires MSD, Taylor or stock work best as well. 100k is to long so just check up on, if the car isn't misfiring then really no reason to spend money on it.
