I have decided I am going to go with 80 series flowmaster on my 99 trans am becuase I am, going to blow the rest of the moeny I have on other stuff. I have heard a ls1 with flowmasters and sounds pretty good. What would happen if I putt a y pipe on it?

 

To be real honest with you! Flowmaster is one of the least flowing exhausts on the market!

 

Whats better than the flowmaster, but not too much more expensive?

 

I have a flowmaster muffler on my SS. I dont know what series because it was on there when I bought it. I LOVE the sound of it. I am not much for the super LOUD exhaust but it sounds plenty mean. Between 2600 and 3000 RPM it just cant be beat in my mind. But I have heard that they are some of the worst when it comes to flowing. I guess they are not truly "Flow" masters.. lol. But since it came on my car when I got it.. I will keep it until I can afford something like a Corsa probably.

 

I was thinking of going with gmmg but I cant make myself sepnd the cash. Anyone erv heard it and how much louder is it than flowmaster?

 

Yeah they should call them sound masters. Their engeneered for sound not flow. Hooker flows better but their both aluminized and will rust in short periods of time. the best flow for price and duribility is the take off muffler from hank's parts or SLP.

You could always go with a cutout, it doesn't get much cheaper that... It'd also be cool if you got an electric cutout if you're planning on going that route anyway.

Flowmaster 80 and electric cutout ...... best combo in my opinion.

I love the sound of my Flowmaster. I'm adding the electric cutout over the winter (before track season again). That way, I can enjoy my Flowmaster sound, but run wide open at the track (or whenever I feel the need)

 

Yeah.. since I love the sound of my Flowmaster as it is.. I might just go this route too. But I would have to do the electric cut out.. I want to know I can open it up with the push of a button... I am to lazy to go crawling under my car every time I want to have open pipes.. lol

Of course I am going to wait on the cut out until I do headers and stuff though.

 

Electric cutout is the only way to go. And, if you don't have a drop-top, then go buy the plate and switch assembly for a convertible and use the extra switch for your cutout. That way everything still looks stock.

I can't stand getting into someone's car and them pointing at all the switches drilled into the dash .. "this one's for my cutout, this one's the power antenna override, that's my bottle heater, that's my remote opener, that's my main activation switch, that's my purge, that's my DRL override, that's my .... " Well, you get the idea.

If I can't make it look stock, or at least hide it well, it ain't going in my ride.

 

<---- flowmaster mufflers with Electric cutout...There is a HUGE difference in power and sound. though I must say in the low end of things the cutout closed is more power but get above like 3 grand WEEEEEEE with the cutout open. I love flowmaster sound have heard others and wasn't all that impressed. GMMG is nice but costly and the cutout sounds better...Plus with my setup it runs though both the cutout and the muffler so you get a sweet sound every which way. Gotta love it.
