Gasket??
I'm about to do a cam swap and would like to know if anyone gets new gaskets, bolts, etc. when doing a cam swap, or could i just use silicon gasket maker or reuse the old gaskets? I want to make sure i have everything ready when i start so i don't have to stop and order a part or something!! Thanks

Re: Gasket??
Front cover gasket Part #12574294
Front cover seal Part #12561254
Water pump gaskets Part #12559271
Crank pulley bolt Part #12557840
Valve cover gaskets Part #12560696
Intake manifold gaskets Part #?????????
LS1 Oil pump Part #12563964
LS2 timing chain Part #12586482
Those are all the part numbers I have for what I believe you will need. But I never have changed a cam so I can't be for sure if I missed anything. But depending on what year your car is and how many miles you may want to change your oil pump and timing chain wile your at it. I think its the 98 and 99 LS1s had oil pump failure problems. And the new LS2 timing chain is alot more heavy duty. Im not sure if it uses the same gear size tho. Maybe someone here could fill us in on that. And replace your crank pulley bolt since you should only use it once from what I understand.
And from what I have heard you can reuse your old intake and valve cover gaskets. I hope this helps you some. And on www.ls1howto.com it has lots of info on cam swaps so you may want to check it out. Also you can get your parts pretty cheap through www.gmpartsdirect.com

Re: Gasket??
well you don't need to take off the intake on the LS1 like you do with other engines, there are two holes at the front of the engine block that I think are for oiling, anyway all you have to do is spin the camshaft a few times so hte lifters get stuck up in the bores then just stick a dowl in each hole, some use wooden ones others use metal ones. I can't remember the size of the dowl, but a quick search will tell you, the dowls will hold up the lifters while you pull the old cam out.. I've read some of the gaskets are reusable on this engine as well, but since they are cheap you can just replace anyway.

Re: Gasket??
Like someone else said. Yuo don't need to take off the intake to do a cam swap on a LS1. I've done 3 cam swaps and I've yet to buy gaskets for the water pump or timing chain cover. They're reusable. Oh yeah, I have no leaks also.
