Gear shift method

Hi everyone,
Finding everything in this site might helpful! Great folks out here :-)
Have a question about gear shifting. There are times when I shift out from the gear to the neutral spot when I am just depressing the clutch pedal. Normally when we shift from say 2nd to 3rd, we have to depress the clutch pedal fully and then do the shift. In my case sometimes i feel that i start the shift and while i am in the path from 2nd to neutral, the clutch is just halfway through. And by the time it goes from neutral to 3rd, the clutch is fully depressed. I tend to shift (without thinking that I am shifting..) I think that when we go from a gear to the neutral spot, is it OK for a half clutch? Because the gear is going from a teeth spot to just hanging without anything.

The transmission would never complain in that case But when from neutral to gear,,then the gear tooth would be meeting each other and for that we definitely have to be on a fully depressed clutch.

Question is ..is this shift pattern OK? Or should I concsiously make sure that the pedal is fully depressed for 2-N-3 cycle.?

And not half depressed for 2-N and fully depressed for N-3?

I hate changing gears concsiously..but if it is bad for the trans..then i should change. Like i said there is no complaining heard from the transmission or engine.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards
Philip

now that you mention that...I do that im my s-10. I have the clutch half way down and I shift from 2-N then when I get to N, the clutch is to the floor and I go to 3. It all happens so fast Ive never really thought about it. I dont get any bad reactions from the engine/transmission either.

Thanks Josh,
You have said it exactly! That's exactly what happens in my case. It all happens so fast that i don't even think about it. I guess there wouldn't be any problem. Logically there shouldn't be, but i thought i would confirm here before i jumped to any conclusion.

Thanks very much Josh
Kind Regards
Philip

Also, on a low rpm deceleration, the shifter can usually be slid into neutral using one finger and no clutch without hurting anything. Just dont try and slide it in gear without a clutch, because this takes a lot of practice and rpm matching. No grinding-no damage!!

I do the same thing. Sometimes I notice that it's not even full pressed when I shift into 3rd. I haven't had any grinding or anything bad either, but I'm also wondering the same thing as you.
