General Questions about a Transam

once again, there isn't any difference in performance or handling between a z28/ta/ or formula if they are equipped the same. The difference being the ram air, firehawk, or ss cars got 17" wheels and an arguable HP bump due to the cold air hood.
STOCK, all ls1 cars run anywhere from about 12.8-14.0 @ 101-110+. The majority being around 13.5 @ 104-107. a lot of 01+ cars run a bit better, and a lot of 98 cars run a bit slower. but not all.
perfect weather and a factory runner get the better times in that range (12's) and a heavy 2.73 geared t/a vert slipping tword the 14 range.
As for handling, they are all about the same. a case can be made for the z28 being lighter by maybe 100-140 pounds over a TA, that it will handle better. I say that car to car differences make up for that.

Yeah dude, NO DIFFERENCE a *few* cars came with upgraded stuff from the factory (SLP) like stated above.
If you're buying a 00 T/A with 70k dont pay more than 8k or getting ripped, unless its the most immaculate car you've seen. t-tops are usually 1k more than hardtop, and convertibles are usually 1-2k more as well, and since you are concerned with handling, both ttops and verts are slightly heavier (verts close to 100lbs more) so don't buy those
if anything the T/A's have heavier parts, so I don't know how you get the impression the T/As are faster. it seems like a pretty common phenomena that T/A owners spread myths. I met a guy once at a car show that insisted that his T/A would walk all over me when I had just done my full exhaust and he was bone-stock automatic.. i was thinking "pinks"?

As it stands now, I'm purchasing a 2000 T/A 6 spd on Tuesday, Has an SLP exhaust system & short throw shifter. I've been doing some research online about the quarter mile specs and such. Its stating an 00 TA will do the 1/4 mile in 13.9 but I'm here from friends theyre stock TA ran 13.0 & 13.2, does anyone have a similar story? Although Im a Camaro fan, from what I'm seeing, the TAs do come out ahead of the camaro with performance & handeling. Just wanting to hear other peoples experiences and ideas.
It all depends on how well the car hooks up at the track and the weather.
