Is this a good car?

I am very interested in this car:

http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/vi...s=IVNLBDLNDS59

I know it's auto, but hey it works. Would you pay 11,900, I emailed the shop and they said that it comes with a warrenty (not sure how much) and also said that the price is negotiable, I have some cash right now to put down or pay it off right now.
How big of an improvement is the ls1 over the lt1? Are there any major or minor problems with this model? Thanks,
Jay

Ouch, thats a lot of miles. But nonetheless, I would pay it, but I would get a warranty just to give peace of mind.

LS1 is alot better, an LT1 makes about 260-285 rwhp. An LS1 makes between 290-315 rwhp. The only ones that really get much over 300 are the 01-02 models, but a 98 still has the LS1 so if you really want it go for it. It looks like there is no leather interior though.

With those miles it would definetely need to be 10K or under.

A few weeks back there was a 99 Z28 w/similar mileage for sale here in DFW for $9.9K and several others w/lower miles in the 11-12K range.

Then again, cars are cheaper here in TX, so if that is the going rate in your area, go ahead and get it. But definetely start by offering 10K, or less, and work your way from there. Especially if you have cash in hand.

LS1's have proven to be very reliable with almost no issues at all. I guess the piston slap is pretty much the only "issue" and there's not much you can do about it anyway and it won't hurt your engine.

LT1 has better low end torque than LS1. Now that I've been testing several LS1's lately, I've definetely been able to confirm it myself.

Good luck!

Sounds like a decent deal, i bought my z for around 13,500 but with only 20 grand on it, it also had tinted windows and borla on it when i bought it from the guy, i'd see if they'll go lower first being its an automatic, and iwth 78 grand on it see what you can work out....

98 white z borla catback , stealth air induction 85mm grenetelli MAF 5 spoke chromes

Actually I don't have a carfax.com account, so that's outta the question. I'm gonna have to call up and see, says it comes with a 30 day 50/50 warrenty, a helluva lot better than buying from a private seller. I think I'm gonna offer 10000 and see what happens, if not there is a 94 with borla, remote start, koenig rims (17's), but I wanna try this out first and see where it leads, should I pay more for a extended warrenty (available for xtra $). If I do any mods it'll kill the warrenty, what would you do, thanks.

CarFax costs what? 20 bucks? Well worth the money.

The warranty is pretty much worthless, but at least it's something. Just make sure what all it covers etc., so you know what you are getting.

Extended warranties are in many cases good things to have. I'm sure the mods will probably void it. Not sure, though. You have to check that with the warranty company...

Good luck!

You can run a "basic" Carfax check on carfax.com for free, and if you post in the lounge asking for someone else to please run the vin for you, someone with a carfax account probably will just because they're nice.

That seems like a decent price, but a lot of miles. If you're already on this site then you are going to be modding, and I don't know if its a good idea to start on an 80,000 mile engine. LS1 is a good engine though, I have seen them go 150,000 with proper maintenance and care. I think you'd be safer with a manual tranny though on a higher mileage car. just my 2 cents.

I just a 99 with an f1 body kit (I believe) Full leather auto with 40,000 for $13,500. The car is fully loaded with headers and a full borla exhaust. Better deals are there if you have the time to look around. I looked for about 3 months until I found this car.
