Grotohann Full Lengths headers How in the hell

Ok this LS1 is using these long tube headers and is getting insane trap speeds and ET's... How the hell? What the hell? And Who in the hell can explain this to me? And do they make these headers for LT1's and how much do they cost? I think he was running deep 12's or high 11's before the cam install. Ive never heard of Grotohann headers...

its just a header like any other...

There are many LS1 Auto's running low 12's high elevens with a converter a tire and sometimes suspension.. depends on the setup.

your just seeing what the non ls1 guys dont believe exists..

3300 lbs, tuning, 39* and a -1700 D/A ... Grots have good rep, but nothing in and of themselves is that head and shoulders above everything else.

For comparision, I ran 12.13@112.89 with just bolt ons in 80* +1400 D/A with a 3700+ lb race weight ...

But did u see his trap speeds? Ive seen a lot of LS1's run and some nearly stock ones run low 13's... so with those mods low 12's and 11's are possible.. But he was also trapping as fast as a viper without the cam.

its not unusual that with a launch in the power band with the right setup and weight... the mph is fine

a car with 350hp and 4000 pounds with trap xxxmph
the same car with 350hp thats setup right and weighs 3000 pounds will trap higher than the previous setup..

if i launch my car off idle i only go xxx mph.. but if i launch at 6000 the car will pick up quite a bit more mph with no other changes

And some trap 112. I went 12.94 @110 bone stock. Added a lid and a cutout, along with some free mods, and went 12.66 @112. I guarantee you that with LT's, a gear, and some weight reduction, I could easily hit 116-117. Oh yeah, and the DA when I ran 112 was +500'.

These LS1's are amazing. You just gotta know what to do with them, and how to do it!

Just FYI, GMHTP went 12.89 in a stock '99 Z a few years ago.

12.94 is easily possible in a car that traps 110. You don't even need a good 60'.

That was on the stock F1's with a 2.07 60'. It shouldn't be too hard to believe. heck, go over to LS1tech.com and see how many stock 6-speed cars are in the 12's over there!

I was in the Top 50 Fastest Bolt-On List, but the 01's and 02's are flying with the LS6 intake and revised cam. Oh well, mod for mod, I'm still one of the fastest on the board.

It's all in how you drive'em. You really can't be scared to break anything, because if you are, then you're not gonna milk the true potential out of your car. I mean heck, I'm on my 2nd tranny, 3rd clutch, and 2nd fuel pump!! lol

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!

The car your referring to was running mid 11's with ONLY bolt-ons(including those headers). Believe me, with the right set-up(especially converter), this is not hard to do with LS1's. In fact this guy is now running high 10's with JUST a cam(still has stock heads). But you got to remember, this car has a TON of weight reduction and is set-up to be mostly a track car. That is why his trap speed is so high(great power to weight ratio). Most LT1 guys don't want to acknowlege this, but the LS1 simply rules at the dragstrip on motor. Forced induction or juice goes either way though.

BTW, the Grotyohan lontube headers are now called QTP headers I believe. I believe them to be better than the other LT headers available. Someone on LS1 or LS1tech .com will always have info about them.

It takes around 370rwhp to get a 3280 pound car to run 119mph trap speeds.

Those are some awesome times for his car though.
