H/C install, how much?

i envy people like you one way for being able to do the job, but at the same time i would lose my cool if something unexpected broke and needed more tools or parts, etc. i just pay someone to handle the headaches and if something was broken, i dont know a thing about it as long as it works in the end. no stress. but i do imagine if all goes well, it must be nice to stand back after rebuilding your engine or whatever the task was and say "i did that"
And when asked who did any particular piece I just puff up a little and say I did. Very satisfying to do it all yourself and go to the track and consistantly run well.

1). I work two jobs and have a family so my time is VERY limited.
2). No garage to work in. I have a big *** boat in my garage because the town I live in will not allow me to keep my boat in my driveway.
3). I hate working on cars. For years I have replaced my own alternators, brakes, exhaust, starters, serpentine belts, batteries, fuel pumps, radiators, ect. But all the jobs I mentioned have one thing in common. I HATED DOING THEM. I hate getting greasy hands, I hate the one bolt that always gets stripped, I hate the level of frustration that comes when something goes wrong and I hate the mixture of blood and oil on my clothes.
I didn't work at the St. Therese plant in Canada so I can't say I built my car. Since I some how manage to live with the fact that I didn't build the car the first time, I feel it's within my abilities to live with the fact that I didn't rebuild the motor the second time around.
And I was quoted $900 for labor only on a set of heads, cam, timing chain, rods, bolts & LSX intake. For all the labor involved I feel that price is reasonable. Not high nor low but reasonable.

"Wow, I'm really surprised how many people here don't do their own work. Any reason why all of you didn't try to learn to do it yourself and save all that money? Just wondering"
for something as involved as pulling heads, cam, timing chains...etc...
fear of screwing something up and ruining a perfectly good engine. i've started taking on harder and harder "fixes"...but i still left the cam upgrade to someone who has done it.
i've never done ANY internal work on an engine...at the time i didn't even own a torque wrench.
so paying someone experienced to do it was a better choice.
and the fact that i dont have a garage either
