headers
i have mixed feelings on putting headers on my '99 z28 camaro. ive heard different stories. ive heard that they can mess up your timing on an LS1, so if i was to get headers what would be the best type to get?

Re: headers
Everyone will tell you to get long tube headers (LTs) due to the higher horsepower/torque gains. They do cost more then shorty headers and are harder to install (usually) but are probably one of the best mods you can do. Headers will NOT mess up your timing, they have nothing to do with it. Kooks, FLP, Hooker, Jet-Hot are some of the big header names.

Re: headers
My thing against shorties is the price to hp gain ratio. I went with mids for ground clearance. It runs quite a bit rich. Anyone know the cheapest way to fix the air fuel ratio? All my options look like several hundred dollars at the least.

Re: headers
Search will trun up hundreds or results as far as headers.. Skip the shorties. Go w/ mids or LT's.. I have heard nothing but good about Kooks. I have the SLP's and I like them mostly for the dual coating (and a slew of other unexperienced reasons) they'll last a long time and look awesome!
They won't mess up timing, just throw o2 codes and run rich.. A MAF translator could adjust the mixture. Or get a tune..

Re: headers
yeah headers won't mess anything up, I've found that longtubes are cheaper than shorties. I just bought some uncoated flowtechs for 230 dollars. Shipping was 30 bucks. They are a pain to install and the gaskets won't last as long as the stockers, but its not hard to change them. That and lower clearance is the only downfall.

If you're running rich, couldn't you just go in for a tune-up and complain of it running rich?
