Help! how to change fan settings to 180

I want to change my fan settings ONLY to start automatically at 180. How can I do that? I dont want to spend about $300 for a hpp3 neither tune the computer for $220. As they are very pricey because they include having many other "neat stuff" that I am not interested in.

A fan switch from SLP wont do it too since i would have to switch it on an off manually (not very practical for everday use). I have heard that there's a fan switch that would work on certain temperature automatically for you just as if the car was made to do so (you set whatever temperature that you wish and it just does it for you)

Can someone help me out? I have a 160 thermostat already all I want to do is to change the fan settings to 180 without paying too much $$$$

Aside from getting a Power Programmer you can use madz28.com or pcmforless.com. That's as cheap as it will go. MadZ28 will do it for $75,

Thanks for the response.

I emailed Ion at madz28.com this is what he said:

Sorry, I don't do 2002s. Your best bet is to get a used hypertech
programmer. Check out ebay or some boards like www.ls1.com or
www.ls1tech.com I saw one on ebay today that ended at $200 which isn't bad. Custom programming for the 2002 will cost you an arm and a leg if you will have some custom tuner do it.

They just came out with a 2002 Hypertech programmer so it will take quite a while to find a used one off of ebay. I also email pcmforless.com and recieved an auto reply saying he wont be able to check his mail till tuesday. A new hypertech programmer would run about $340.

Anyone else have an input on this?

Do the service departments at the Pontiac Dealerships have the same sort of programmers? that way maybe I could just have someone do it for me in the side?

I've seen an adjsutable fan controller. I think someone got theirs at Pep Boys for about $40. It has a temp sensor that you jam into your radiator and then adjust the controller for the temp you want.
