Re: HELP! My LS1 won't GO!

If I were you I would do the job myself. Me and my dad did it from underneath in just over 3 hours. Also, DONT BUY THE OEM PUMP. From what I remember the dealer wanted over $300 for the pump. I bought a Walbro for $110 and and the total job cost was about $150 and I was driving it that night. Good luck.

It isn't just running it dry that'll burn the pump up, consistantly running under 1/4 tank will too. My wife didn't believe me until she went through 3 pumps. Gratefully under warranty.

I have to say that my experience has been the opposite. I daily drove my car for two years and I always ran it down to E. We are talking about a car with 45K + miles being run down to the E line every week to ten days. Often the check guages light came on before I pulled into a gas station. But I never once actually ran out of gas and as soon as I saw the check guages light I would hit a gas station immediately.

Part of this was being lazy and other times just because I was broke and trying to make it to next payday. Now that my car is no longer a daily driver it never gets below a 1/4 of a tank. But back in the day

No failed fuel pumps (knock on wood).

This is a high milage car (01 model GAGT w/almost 150k miles). Got ran down to E twice a week. By 50k miles it had the pumps replaced twice. Since she started getting fuel at 1/4 tank it stopped burning them up.
