High mileage LS1??

I was just wondering if anybody has a high mileage LS1 in here because I have a guy wanting to sale me a 98 Trans am 6 speed with 106,000 miles for $9950, and I want an LS1 badly, but im in a tight budget at the present moment and probably will be for about a couple more years because im buying a house this spring. I'd be paying with cash if I did do this, but I was just wondering would I be expecting a rebuild like really soon, I know its depending on the cars abuse its been through and what not. Either way im just kind of curious. Thanks

holy hell, a 99 Corvette with 250k miles thats insane. That had to be one driven ride man, like every single day of its life, and lots of it.

I recently turned 70K miles on my 98Z28 and here's what I had to have done since I bought it new in 1997:

- 1 front set of rotors/pads all round
- 1 new battery
- 1 clutch replacement
- 1 new master cylinder (old one was leaking)
- misc. seals replaced
- 1 replacement of O2 sensors
- 1 radiator flush/new coolant
- 1 new serpentine belt
- misc. light bulbs (parking lights/turn signals only)
- oil changes/filter every 3-4K miles
- On my third set of tires

Not to bad for a 5 year old daily driver car. It still runs like a champ, strong as ever. I love my 98Z28, it's been pretty good to me.

That many miles in 4 years means probably a lot of highway miles. That kind of driving doesn't hurt a car at all.I'd say go for it,especially paying cash!

check for burning smoke and if it drives good, yeah i would think it would last 3-4 years. see about getting a warrenty, it will probably pay off. ask what oil he used and if he has any reciets to prove he used good oil. Mobil 1 synthetic oil is great, an engine can go 1,000,000 miles and still be within the tolerances for new. It has just over 100,000 miles it may need a tune-up and a trans fluid change and rear end fluid change, those are some things to consider too, probably around $750 to have it all done for you if brakes and tires are good. tires for these cars are about $600, brakes will cost about $100 for the pads. all these points can also be used to talk the guy down if they exist.
