Exclamation

Go with the Holley, you don't have to use the silly foam gasket like with the K&N.

I have a K&N, and I don't know anything about a foam gasket. Regardless, I would go with a K&N. I've read some good things about the Holley, but the truth is that I don't know a whole lot about them and have no experience with them. With a decision like that, I chose K&N because I've used them before, they've been around for years, and they are well known and proven for what they can do. Also, with the addition of the K&N and a lid, my car dyno-ed at 330 rwhp; up from 300. Some of that has to do with the engine breaking in, but still!!

id put that gasket on if i were you, you could be getting unfiltered air into the motor.

Id go with the Holley, because of the no gasket thing. I keep having to put mine back in place

Also, Accell just came out with a line of fiters lke the holley and K&N, summit has them, you might wanna check into those before you make a decision

Talking

hahhaa
the only foam gaskets i have seen on K&N's were for the carbed engines. For these, I have never seen where or how it would mount.

as for "letting unfiltered air in", ISNT THAT WHAT THE WHITE GAUSE STUFF IS THERE FOR?
:P

u people crack me up..

I asked people yesterday and heard no one mention any fitment issues with the K&N..
I think for me, I will just but the one that I happen to get when I buy a lid.

psychocabbage,
Glad I (we) could "crack you up." Get the facts straight, the K&N requires that you put in the foam gasket on the airlid, they supply it. It gets tore up pretty easy. I have had both. The Holley fits without any gasket, and yes it is reusable, clean and re-oil. Go do a search of LS1.com, or even here maybe, and see how cracked up you are. As far as : "letting unfiltered air in", I believe Freak is referring to not getting a proper seal without the gasket and air going around the filter into the throttle body. So when your intake sucks in a bug or dirt, it could go by your filter, not through, and that would really "crack you up." Nice to see you are so informed since you have not used either.
Peace

yes, I am clueless, no unfiltered air can possibly get into an engine even if there is no seal on the air filter. No I dont have a K&N, and they dont have gaskets either. I made it all up.

Retard.

GoFast,
Call K&N (you may have to call more than once to get it free), try asking for tech help, they don't seem to care to charge someone $5 for a piece of foam. Tell them your car and year and see what happens. When I had my K&N, the first rep wanted $$, called back for tech, mailed for free.

Holley ! I ran a K&N for about a week ... pitched it and bought a Holley.

The Holley is designed for our cars. From what I understand, the K&N is a Volkswagon filter with a foam gasket to make it fit our cars.

Which would you rather have?

Have not used the K&N on a LS1.. have used it on my PORSCHE.. There was no foam filer.. And it too is a large rectangular filter.. Have also used it on my Mercedes.. It too had no foam.
Nice to see that you have no sense of humor.. damn the LT1 guys are right.. some of you people here are snobby pieces of ****!

I will just ignore you for here on out.

Cool

Snobby, not a chance. No sense of humor, not a chance. If you noticed, I gave out informed information. Your post did not seem to have humor, rather insult. If you read my response to you, I ended it with "Peace." I am not one to flame others, not in my belief system.
Ignore my posts if you chose, I just try and pass on info that I have learned over the past 3 years on this board and the other LS1 boards I belong to.
Again,
Peace

OK, OK, back to my original inquiry. Which one flows better? Is it easy to find the cleaning kits for the Holley filter's?

Regardless of flow because it will be real hard to find truely non biased informantion, I would pick personal preferance..

I will go with the Holley cause its blue. I am sure they are very similar and will flow similarly but the added foam insert/spacer seems to not be worth it.

I may get the clear plastic lid to show off the blue or just a carbon fiber whisper lid..

Someitmes, unless you have a dyno, you have to go off of gut instinct. Mine is telling me that from what has been written, Holley researched and created one or found one that fits.. K&N seems to of simply found one that would do with a little help..
