Thanks for the pics. Its appears that you did a good job welding, and piecing it all together. Looks that its, going to be just as good as mandrel bends. I am awaiting sounds clips, great job man.

Friends! Countrymen! lend me your ears!!!!

By popular demand and the simple fact that sound files are useful to those thinking about what to do with their own exhaust....here they are.......

These may take 2-3 minutes to load up with a 56K modem, sorry but I couldn't find a way to reduce the size and not degrade the sound. The sound is ok but my sound recording device picked up wind, aeroplanes, drive by shootings and other pesky interfearance. It was also wet, cold and I was hungry....which means nothing but I felt like sharing The exhaust is brand new and very much still in the brake-in period and there is some distortion ( #3 is the worst, but still worth listening to) on a few of the files due to "wrong recorder positioning", so bear that in mind. Your also listening to a recording of a recording since I had to transfer the origional recording to the computer via teh computers Mic.

The car was stationary for all of these and cold ( had been sitting for about 5 hours).

Good Job I hope more muffler shops will start doing things like this instead of the overpriced cat back systems out there. I may show those pics to my shop and see if they will do it for me for not too much $. Later>>>>>>

It would be in your best interest, if you bought the exhaust then took them to a shop with the pics for them to do. Otherwise you have to deal with their sales pitch and if they know where to get chambered exhaust, their prices.

As for the wav files, great job!
Thanks.. Has a decent sound!
Now I think a dyno is calling your name to see what you have!
Then the track! hehe

I think I'll wait until Ive got the air lid and filter on and then run it to the Dyno. But now the $$$ will go on appearance versus HP, Now that it sounds like a Camaro I need to make it look like it sounds.

Thanks for the sound clips. other than being a lil' distorted it sounds pretty good. I am sure with time it'll break in a bit and become deeper. until then nice job man.

Thanks!

I think so, even after only a few days Im noticing a steady change in the tone and overall sound. The other thing is that the first recording device used is designed for human voices, not deep exhaust tones so I lost some of the sound "dynamics" the first go around and then I had to record the recording to get it on the computer using a regular computer mic (recording from a Mono sound source) so by the time it got onto the PC the sound had degraded a bit and became more distorted. It will never sound exactly like the official Gmmg unless I switch out the "I" pipe for a 3 inch and probably get some low restricion Cats, all that would help but for now its sounding pretty good.

Im contemplating designing my own airbox next and using some of the sheet metal Ive got to make a ram air thingy.

Yea, thanks PCabbage. The shop I use the owner road races a Trans Am and will do what I want. He would not mind if I bring in the parts. I know what you mean about the "Sales Pitch" at a local muffler shop. I had to argue with one when he told me a cut-out before the muffler would just make noise and no HP. But he said his (F)slowmasters would make HP. LOL. Later>>>>

The only differances I see between the gmmg and the loud mouth is the loud mouth has one chamber instead of two and the chamber is in front of the rear end instead od behind it.. The advantages of the loudmouth over what you are doing is 1) the pipes are larger and 2) the bends are more free flowing. Both will give you more hp.

I am thinking of going with the gmmg but in the back of my mind I am thinking the loud mouth would give me the same results because it has a simalar design. I have until spring to decide.
the loudmouth sounds nothing like the GMMG IMO, heard it on stock LS1's, stock LT1's, it doesnt sond the same at all. it gets really raspy and droney, where as the GMMG doesnt at all, at least on my car (LT1 with FLP's). the setup that imoth did sounds a lot like the edelbrock exhaust i heard on a 3rd gen 350 TPI and the gale banks catback i heard on an LT1. you can hear the resemblance to the GMMG but based on the cars ive heard with it and the sound clips on GMMG's site the GMMG sounds deeper all the way up through the rpms. its probably due to the difference in chamber designs between the GMMG one and sweet-thunder one. i will give you a lot of credit, the other chambered setups ive seen people make look liks sh*t, badly. yours looks very nice and certainly is cheaper than the GMMG one. ill take the authentic one though. i know weve spoken on this before, but GMMG has a patent on their exhaust and even calling it a GMMG style setup is a lil off IMO. id go with a 'custom chambered exhaust' or 'custom sweet-thunder exhaust'. not to take away from what you did, so ill tie up with saying great job! its cool to see people do something unique like this on their cars!
