Looks like I win so far. Picked up my 02 SS on 11-7-01 I have just over 34,000 miles on it. Yes it's a daily driver until my El Camino is back on the road.

Cool

I may not have the most overall (since some of you have had your's for over a year now), but I'm racking up the miles pretty quick. Since June 26th (6 months yesterday!!) I've put on 18,200km, which is ~11,300miles (already!! ). I absolutely love driving the car though, and I certainly take any opportunity I can get just to go for a drive (even if it's just to the corner store and back!). Also, why wouldn't I want to daily-drive it?? It's usually the nicest car I see on the road (while I'm driving it!), and why would I want to drive something I don't like as much (since I don't like anything as much?! ).

My 2002 has exactly 2,152 miles on it as it currently sits in storage for the nice salty winter here in Chicago. It was bought brand-new(with 31 miles) back on July 5th of this year.

And the miles will stay low for now on as it won't be my daily-driver anymore once it comes out of storage in the spring(have another car). But I'll definitely enjoy it whenever I can.

Yup, the door sticker on mine says 8/02. I've managed to convince myself that will make my car that much more valuble if I ever lose my mind and sell it

As for sabotage, rumor has it that the internal quality audits during the last few weeks were some of the best ever for Ste. Therese. Sure those guys were losing that particular job, but they're Union. Most of them are probably still collecting 90% salary and full benefits, and are first in line to work at Oshawa, the best auto plant in NA (so says the Habour report).

Anyway, my '02 was picked up August 16th about four hours after it came off of the transporter. Delivered at 3 miles; I think it's sitting at 4,945 now. It'll be there until next spring, when the crappy MI winter bids us farewell.

casebuzz,

I don't know how much this could increase you car's value but I agree that owning one of the last 'classic' Camaros to come down the line is at least 'nostalgically' valuable.

Your sig says your car was built, 'Aug. 6, 2002'. Where did you get the exact date from. I didn't think that the exact date was ascertainable. Was yours a special order?

My car was built May 22 2001. If you have your build sheet, it says there. If not, the dealer can pull one up for you on their computer.

Around 2300miles. Got the car in Augest and don't drive it everyday. Seemed like it took forever to get through the 1st 500 breakin miles before going on the freeway.

I know that I'm off a bit with the year, but I have a '99 with about 15,000 miles on her.

02 WS6, 3561 miles as of today, picked up Sept 30 2002, build date 7/29/02 one of the last 1000 WS6s to come off ASCs line build number 11277
As for the quality so far aside from the piston slap, it's tight, no squeeks, no rattles, no leaks, and the paint has ALOT less orange peel than the 02 SS i was looking at

Definitely cool.

When I was shopping around for my Z in late July, I didn't know when the build-out was to occurr. And then a couple of dealers scared me by saying, "you'd better hurry up, there aren't many left". I was also worried about getting the exact car that I wanted. That's when I dove in.

Also, do you mean THE 'piston slap'?

I thought piston slap was a problem in '97-'01 engines. I remember reading somewhere that sometime in '01 there was a fix to the LS1/LS6 piston- something about piston-to-bore clearance and new pistons or skirts.

Can anyone confirm that this problem was taken care of?

Well you're welcome to listen to my diesel TA AFAIK they really haven't done much if anything to fix the piston slap, tho it does go away when the car warms up, and the dyno shows 324 hp so I'm not too concerned about it.

As mentioned above, any dealer can pull up you build sheet. I'm guessing that the "build date" is the day it went through final inspection, as it takes more than a day to build the car.

I'd want to know the build date if I were you. Besides, it gives me something to throw up there (along with the 8/02 door sticker) whenever some snobby SS owner starts babbling on about his unique build number

casebuzz,
Yeah, I found my build sheet. My build date is 6/13. I agree that this date has to represent a final inspection or something. I read somewhere that it takes 4 days to build a Camaro (or used to anyway).

Okay, how about the build number. You mentioned your build number is 11277. Did you get this from the VIN?
