I highly doubt it weighs 3,900 lbs.

If it's your car that you're wondering about, open you driver's door and look for your weights sticker. It should list your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GWVR) and the maximum weight your car can carry (payload). Subtract the payload from the GVWR and that's how much your car weighs.

My car (all option 2001 SS minus T-tops) weights right over 3700 with me in it and about 1/2 tank of gas. It's a piggy.

The only thing that would make sense weighing that much would be an SS 'Vert. They're supposed to weigh an additional 500 lbs, so add that to 3447 or whatever and you've got about 3900lbs. Badda bing badda boom

My all option (power everything, rear defroster,T-Top,Leather Int, CD-changer, deck mat, ... about as porkly as you can get in a coupe) 02 SS weighs 3439 lbs. I'd imagine the 00 is about the same.

edit: that excludes the driver and any gas of course.

Yeah, it is a lot. GM put alot more into the frame to make it strong enough. Not having a roof REALLY weakens a car. Just looking under a 'Vert you can see how much more bracing there is. But yeah, as far as 500lbs, that's just a figure for most 'verts out there compared to their coupe model.

Hmmm, are you guys weighting the car with a known amount of gas and with all options in the car like spare and jack?

Just curious.

My car with 12.5 gallons of gas + spare and jack and everything else I take ot the track with me (that day I had a box that contained some tools and the stealth lid) my helmet and whatnot..
For options I have only T-tops, leather covered steering wheel, Hurst OEM shifter. (I did have an alarm added since I didnt get any power options at all and felt it best)
Car weight = 3490.

Not too shabby I think.

Here's something I don't quite understand about a car's weight.

According to my door jamb, my car weighs 3,529 lbs., but my registration says it weighs 3,420 lbs.

I don't know which to believe. My car is fully loaded too, so I'm sure it would be somewhat heavier than other Camaros, but not by very much.

Our 98 SS M6 with all options except ASR and CD changer with 1/4 tank of gas weighs 3380.

The 2000 Formula A4 with all standard equipment + TCS with 1/4 tank of gas weighs 3400.

Just 2 more data points.
