Arrow How much does your air filter stop?

I just pulled my lid (stock) of to check my air filter and it seems to be letting a lot of things though. My MAF screen had stuff all over it: a small bug, 2 blades of grass, and other misc. small debris. Is this normal. I don't see how it can be. If debris big enough to get caught on the screen can get through, I can only imagine how much stuff gets through that the screen cannot catch. BTW everything in front of the MAF is stock (ie no FRA etc.). This is the second time I have cleaned the screen in the first 5000 miles on the car. Am I worrying about nothing or is something wrong?

thats not right?

well if your running a stock filter , it may let stuff that big through? i dont know because the first thing i did to my car was a K&N filter.

you need a new filter, you might as well get a holley or K&N now.

also clean you MAF screen

I have cleaned it off twice now (only 5000 miles on the car). I will be getting a lid w/ holly filter soon. Hopefully this problem will disappear.

This is not normal. Something is broken. Your MAF screen SHOULD NOT be acting as a filter under any condition.

I had that... found out the oem filter wasnt sealing completely around the rear edge of the box. My Direct flo lid squished it down farther and the problem ceased. I am also way beyond the OEM filter at this point, and have found the fram seats nicely.

Good luck!
