How much more would you pay for an ls1 ss?

Whats interesting is that with all this general consensus that i'll be lucky to find one thats not ragged out with 140000+ miles for under 7500. That price is usually for a Z and once in a blue moon for an ss. I'm counting ebay, this site and autotrader as my sources for looking, am i missing a real good resource? Or is it just initial sales timing and the prices will slowly creep down?

I paid $14,600 for my '02 Z28. I might have paid $15,000 if it were an otherwise-equal SS. To me, it's just not worth a lot more. The spoiler and the hood are just about the only things that are worth extra to me -- I'd be replacing the rest of the upgrades anyway.

Only mechanical issue was that he had just had longtubes professionally installed at the chevy dealer and they could not legally turn off the SES light for the rear 02s. cost me 50 bucks. Also came with 2 sets of tires and wheels, the stock ss wheels, and a nice set of polished firehawk wheels with new tires. Paint shined up beautiful - car was always garaged since new. Dont know where you live but up here in the northeast these cars can be had cheap. Most people are afraid to drive them in the winter. threw a stall and some nittos on it and ran consistent 12.3s@109 with 1.6x 60s.

If you give yourself about a month, especially now in winter, you'd probably be able to find exactly what you want with under 90K for about $8K. There was a real nice one on ebay with 120K on it that went for $5500. I was kicking myself for missing it. You never know, someone asking $10K might be willing to come down to a number you can afford. To answer your question, I would say paying an extra $1500 - $2,000 for an SS is definitely worth it. Aside from the performance and looks, your getting something that is more rare.

I bought my 2000 SS for 18k last week. But the Car had 15,200 miles on it with 5 oil changes, new tires and the guy is really old. The car didn't have a single scratch on it. It was always in the garage under a dust proof cover. The car Still Smells new, and there isnt a piece of dust anywhere. The real definition of Perfect Condition. It was on the pricey side but after looking at 5+ of them anywhere from 13k-18k, I think I made a great choice. When I give girls rides they think its a 2007, LOL.
