How much and what to get done on a tuneup?
I know the typical stuff like plugs and wires should be done. But what else. My car has 113k miles on it and most likely has never had the plugs or wires changed. I'm sure it's time to get it done. It's a 98 Z28.

I had something interesting done recently - I had the power steering system flushed - didn't know they did that. And new fluid installed, in the hopes of avoiding power steering problems.
How about other fluids - coolant, tranny, brake, differential, oil of course.
Fuel injector service? fuel filter?
Bearings?
PCV valve?

All depends on what you want in the tune-up
Tranny fluid change - 60 to 70 ucks
Oil change (probably get done at the same time) - 10-15 (bring your own oil, theirs usually suck.
Plugs (bend over for this one) anywhere rom 200-250 bucks (mostly labor, and they'll use crappy plugs, unless you bring your own or specify)
belts - 50-75 bucks
air filter - if you really want them to change it. probably 10-15
Fuel filter...dont forget this one - 25 -45 bucks
there are a couple of other things that Im probably not thinking of now, plus items like brakes and suspension, as well as other fluid changes. Most good repair shops will work out a package tune up deal for ya.
The big *** raping in price are the plugs. trust me when I say DO THEM YOURSLEF!
it costed me approx 80 bucks in parts (magnacore wires and new NGK plugs) and approx 3.5 hours on a saturday on my first attempt with the LS1. I got better plugs and got new wires, and didnt have to bend over for a 250 dollar bill from a shop.
fuel filter should be a really easy job with jack stands an some rags.
belts are a cakewalk to do yourself
oil change isnt difficult, but you may want the shop to do this anyway if you dont have a disposal method
most other fluid flushes (radiator, brake, tranny, power steering) will need to be done at a shop to save headaches, they have better equiptment for it.
Hope that helps
