Angry I figured out what gears I have in my car....now that they are broken!

ARUUGHAHH!!!

I posted this a while back ago: I'd kick my car in the ***** if I could. I'm sick of screwing with this prob. HELP!.

It came down to me not know what gears were in my car. Well last weekend I went over to dertys house to install a TA gear cover. Once my old cover was taken off, 2 teeth fell out.

Great

So, we looked at the stamping and also counted the drive sharft turns to the rotation for the tires, and we got 4.10s each time....but now that I'm missing some teeth, its time to get a new gear.

I'll be calling some places today and pricing some stuff. I'll be going with a 3.73 now.

...and now with 3.73's I should be able to program my computer right!

Just wanted to give an update with everyone.

Kewl! Sorry about the teeth but at least you finally know and you will be pleased with 3.73's. I know I was in my LT1...

What brand you getting?

I don't know yet....but I'm on a shoe string budget right now.
I'm more worried about the install costs.

The driveshaft method isn't always the most accurate way. You can count the teeth intead. However, my 4.56 calculation was right on, so your speedometer has to be off. But, how could it be off just the exact right amount to come out to a 4.552 (rounded to 4.56) gear?? If you really do have 4.10s, that is really odd...

They were stamped with: "41.10". I know my spedo is close to right +/- 2 mph....its just odd.

But, now I know there will 3.73's in there.
