Talking I testdrove 02 SS w/ 26 miles should I buy?

OK I found out on this Board that GM has 0% financing so I went from wanting a used SS to shopping the local dealers for a new '02 model. I didn't realize that these cars are in demand and hard to find.I thought that wouldnt happen til after September. Out of 4 chevy dealers only 2 had 1 on the lot the first place said the owner was holding it for his son but anything has it's price. I walked. So I test drove the red 6 speed I found. It is sweet the shifer is a little stiff but this thing only had 26 miles on it! I checked the door sticker it was made in June 2002.The sales man qouted me $29,506 at 0% interest for five years payments about 519.00 a month after tax tags and title. Its got leather and T tops. Two other dealers say these SS models are practically sold before they get off the truck. Should I jump on this one or wait it out? Is there a over supply somewhere out there close to Maryland?

Thumbs up

If you have the means, then jump on it. Around here new SS Camaros are highly difficult to come by, and the few that are available are marked several thousand over the MSRP. Good luck

Cool

Ok I am now the proud owner of a '02 SS # 8688. What the hell does that number mean any way?Is it the 8688th car SLP modified? I gotta tell you guys I pulled my hair out trying to decide whether or not to take the plunge. When I got no encouragement from my girlfriend it was good to hear from some people that understand. After a little bit of dealing with a slick salesman that tried to sneek $1,000 into the agreed upon sales price not once but twice!!. Luckily I brought my calculator and caught it! If I wouldn't of had the 0% interest rate I probably wouldnt have caught it.Having no interest for 5 years is great for making figures easy to deal with but the stupid sales man didn't think it was available for the V8 Camaro. Turns out it is.They gave me the car for$29,506 plus 600 shipping and tax tags and title. The sales men couldn't believe the price I got and said some guy was coming Tuesday to pay $32000 for the car. Maybe it was BS who knows. I just went over 100 miles and I want to break it in right. Any advice? Is it OK to get on it once in a while. I do not want that damn engine knock to develop. Thanks everyone for the support!

the number is just it's build number. it's used to tell if a car is a real SS or not.

Congratulations Man, you're going to LOVE THAT CAR! I have 3200 miles on my '02 SS and it really seems to be breaking in nice. I was told to NOT use the cruise control for 700 miles and vary the speed for about 500 miles or so. Someone on this board mentioned using deceleration as well as acceleration during the first 1000 miles or so to wear in both sides of the pistons. I found a nice mountain road and went through the gears going up (acceleration) and used the gears coming back down (deceleration), it was a lot of fun and awesome listening to that bad a$$ engine scream. It's cool to get on it and run it up just don't go any one speed for the first 500 or so miles. HAVE FUN!!! Later........Brent
