I got the tire size:

P225 / 60Z / R16
And it was 2300 RPM's at 40mph in Drive.

I hope this helps figure out what I'm running.

You have 225s? Wow...those are small...I didn't think they put them on from the factory?

Anyway, if all of your information is correct...I am getting 4.56 (4.552) every time I do the calculation. If you are sure you are not letting it go into Overdrive then you have a 4.56, and that's why your RPMs are so high...

A 4.10 would have only turned just over 2000 RPM @ 40mph in your car.

Hope this helps.

HOLEY SH*!@#T!!
Thank you for doing the math on that. Wow... So, my spedo is wrong, as I've programmed it as 4.10s.

I think I may try and do a gear swap to 3.73s....... damn............ wow......

EDIT: Would LS1 Edit help to program the gear change, or am I stuck with having a messed up spedo? I know HPP will only go to 4.10s, and I have no idea how to fix the spedo. I now plan on getting some different gears, but I can't afford the gears and also pay to have them put in....but I could get something like LS1 Edit to make it work for now, plus it would allow me to make other changes as well. Anybody have an idea on this?

Thanks again BlackHawk.
Milo.

Yep you either have a 4.56 or your speedo is wrong. But it came out to almost EXACTLY 4.56 (4.552) so I dunno...your speedo would have to be off just the exact right amount to produce a number like that...so I dunno...

?

Edit: I don't know about the LS1 Edit though.

My g.f said that she went by one of those police "You Speed is" and it displayed "53mph" and she said that she was going between 50 and 54mph, so my spedo is close to what it should be......

I'll be getting a rear-end cover next weekend. When I put it on, I'll count the teeth and see what it is.

But this is odd.......very odd.

I also heard that if you leave the car in Drive, and go 70mph, whatever your RPM's are is what gear you have. I don't know if thats right or not though.

Yea that 3rd gear and tech thing at a certain mph may not be accurate cause if you do have different gears or different tire sizes then you spedo will be off anyway. If you are interested I have a 3:42 ring gear, pinion, and posi unit you could buy for $75 obo...You just gotta pick up shipping costs...

Hey Rick!
I haven't installed the AC yet......though its planned for next weekend if everything goes okay, and derty (a local memember on here) is still able to help with it. I'll be going to his place to also install a rear end cover. I'll let you know in about a week how the install went.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Good luck man....and remember, if you want to sell your cruise control - you know where to ask first.

Milo,

I have a 3.42 ring and pinion gear off my old 10 bolt. If you're interested in using that to see if it's good we can work something out. That may be more streetable for you.

That would be a good idea to count the teeth. I think you take the ring gear teeth divided by the pinion teeth..or something like that.

About the 70mph thing...I've never heard of it. Maybe it's worth a shot??
