which intake

98 z28, I installed some longtube headers but they are made for a 2001 camaro, either I need to cap my intake or buy a new one, Is the fast intake worth it or should i just get a ls6 without the egr?

Get the LS6 intake unless emission laws prevent it, which I believe they do in CA. SLP makes a LS6 intake w/EGR provisions, but its expensive. Used ones are nearly impossible to find. I have one on my car, but will be upgrading to a FAST soon. If you can wait 3-4 months, I will have mine for sale!

You'll notice a big improvement in power too with the LS6.

The FAST intake is a great piece but if you need it or not depends on your level of modifications and emissions. If you only have a mid heads/cam and headers then the LS6 is probably the way to go. Used ones for for about $300-$350 and are easy to find. If you have a medium to large cam and supporting mods then the FAST is probably for you. However, it appears you are registered in CA. In this case the LS6 is going to be the only way to go as the FAST is not CARB exempt and could caue you probems at inspection time.

they've shown less gains than the ls6....not to mention heat soak.

^ yeah... there are some people w/ boosted cars running 700 hp that are still using the LS6 intake..

The FAST may flow more CFM, but unless you're running BIG cam w/ heavy CFM flowing heads or larger displacement, go w/ the LS6.

Higher cost, less power, more weight, and heat soak issues. Finally, BBK is primarily a Ford aftermarket company

JUNK. A guy in our F body club removed his LS6 intake to install one on his Vette. Before and after dyno runs showed no change in power and a loss of 2 ftlbs of tourque at a higher RPM. Maybe you will have better luck.

The only two intakes I would run are the FAST or the LS6.

ok cancelled order with summit, What about the fast 78mm version? Iam changing my intake cause i bought some headers that were for a 2001 car so the egr is blocked and location is different on the headers and the same with the air. Decision, I decided to swap the intake for an egr less one and some block plates for the air, Smog isn't a issue

Just go to the hardware store and get an expansion plug for the hole until you can find an LS6 intake.

Exactly.

LS6 or FAST 90/90 -- Those are the only two intakes you need to worry about when dealing with the LSx platform that make power over the LS1 intake. LS6 for everything up to a cam swap and the FAST 90/90 for power levels over a cam swap.

I did that way back in 2000 when I installed my "state of the art" MAC headers. Ah, the early LS1 days...
