Re: just curious
You mean, if the factory speed limiter (which is set around ~163 mph) was removed?? Like Teke said, you'd probably be limited to the 160's anyway because of drag, but I suppose with enough power (not stock anymore) you could overcome that?

Re: just curious
Because of drivetrain efficiencies, it'd have to be tested with an M6. With the gearing the way it is in an M6, you hit 170 at 5800 in 5th. Stock cam peaks at 5600 according to all the books. So, I'd say an ungoverned car might kiss 170. But, I'd highly doubt any more than that. Just make sure you have about 3~4 miles of straight road to hit it and slow down before you try anything.

Re: just curious
Ideally? Run 2.73's with the M6 . That way you've got the capability to run to ~170 mph in 4th gear (1:1 ratio) which would probably be better and easier on the motor/tranny than doing it in over-drive??
And THEN if you had enough power, you could pull to ~230 MPH in 5th!!!

Re: just curious
from all of my research.. unlimited the car will hit 162-163 mph.
I plan on going to the texas mile sometime and seeing how mine does.
The speed limiter will let you hit about 160 before cutting out and locking you down to about 157ish.
I love me some top speeds..

nifty readout of the speeds people got.

Re: just curious
is there a digital or aftermarket speedo (or a laptop tool?) to see what you ran/run past 155? NOT STOCK i had buried to the peg and i still had the engine climbing in rpms slowly. (2.73's) it may have had a tad bit left but i was running out of highway, and it didnt like the aerodynamics or something at that point. started to shake slightly making me uncomfortable. brakes took forevert o get me back down to 60mph stab braking

Re: just curious
^ yeah, that'd make me nervous too. I've gotten up to 150... maybe past it. She'll do 145 in 4th. 5th is a nice gear. But I'm nervous about something happening at those speeds. Brake anything, you're phuked....drive shaft lets loose..
I don't think I'll be doing another 150+ pull for a while. I gotta get my wheel ballance straightened out.
As far as braking, I usually let it decel from abotu 3500rpm, to not over wind anything. And I'll give 3 second bursts of brakes, then let off. To give to rotors time to cool. I don't stab the brakes per say, but I'll apply moderate pressure in pulses.
And as far as distances, we've got soem crazy straight, open and LONG roads out here... Texas/AZ/NM/OK PPL know what I'm talking about.

Re: just curious
Tire width can really help those wind gusts though. I've had mine to only 135~ish. I was toying with an SVT focus but he made me feel bad when he started pulling on me a bit at 125mph. I was in 6th though, and I have a Vert so alot more drag. But I down shifted and smiled as i blew on past.
