Just installed LT Pacesetters/ORYP....

After 10 straight hours of knuckle busting fun, i finally got everything installed. I'll be posting some pics tomorrow evening for those that are interested on seeing how the setup looks. Now, that I've got the LT's and ORYP hooked up to my SLP LM........it's a helluva lot louder. I'm talking top fuel dragster sounding. There's a tremendous difference in power now. I did notice the car run a little sluggish up until 2200 rpms, at which point the car hauled major @ss. I did have to replace my O2 sensors because I got the SES light. I did have to grind a little off my K-member in order to get the driver's side header on. I did not have to remove my steering linkage. As for the Y-pipe, it actually went on pretty smooth. However, I did have to take my car to a muffler shop and have it shortened and welded (from the part that connects to the intermediate pipe of my SLP LM).

I did notice that I'm wasting a lot more gas now than before. Did any other members have the same experience? As for tuning, do any members reccommend that I should have the vehicle tuned? Please post if there are any other things I should do as a follow-up to the header/Y-pipe install. Thanks in advance.

how ya doin man...(I PMed ya back a few hours ago) i apologize again, looks like i couldnt get to ya b4 ya finsihed the install (i can never remember to check my PMs)....yep i told ya it would sound like a race car.....i cant imagine youd be physically consuming fuel faster as less backpressure allows the engine to work easier and more efficiently...i imagine the fuel usage is do to a slightly heavier right foot. also the slugghishness you feel on the low end will probably go away....did you disconnect your battery during instal???? if you did your ECM may have reset. mine did and the car ran kinda poorly for about 200 miles. after that it started relearning everything again and the car pepped up a lot. also you might just be getting used to the differences. mine felt just plain weird when i first installed these but now it runs very strongly all the way up the RPM band.

Thumbs up

I would reccomed a retune, and while your having it done they can do a lot of other things as well. I had mine done and loved it. No I don't work here but I used pcmforless.com. Again, not trying to sell that particular company.

yea, it took us about 10 hours to do also but its well worth it!

give it time and your car will relearn and prettymuch tune itself but if you have cash to waste you will get 2-3hp outta a good tune. hold off on it till you do a cam though

yea, it took me 10 hours. I didn't have a lift. I borrowed a set of car ramps which raised the car approx. a foot off the ground. Like you said red91tsiawd, "it's well worth it". I'm dropping my car off on Thursday with my mechanic and he's gonna be doing a cam install. We're gonna be going with a 228/228 grind along with new retainers, pushrods, lifters, etc. I'm also gonna be purchasing a programmer (not sure which one yet though) to raise the RPM limiter. I was told that I would be losing some low end torque, but will gain some major mid to high power. I've got a 6spd, so hopefully that'll compensate for the loss of low end power. What do u guys think? Comments......suggestions?

if your not gonna program it yourself or get a real "tune" get the predator cuz with hpp u cant delete the rear o2's at least this way you can just delete the codes and be done with it...also i think ls1speed does tunes for like 150 mail order that is not sure about pcm for less im sure they are about the same though. Good luck with the cam and if anyone wants to see my writup on the pacesetter install check out my site.

I was also leaning toward getting the Predator also. I've actually got simulators for the rear O2's. Would you happen to know how high I can raise the rev limiter with the Predator?

honestly, don't do mail order. please! we have had so many ppl blow em up because EVERY car is different and they can only do so well with a mail order tune. the best thing to do is buy ls1edit and find a dyno with WideBand and save about 3 hours for it. be sure they know what there doing on the ls1edit to so they can assist you. i know our local HP shop is eager to help ppl out with there own tuning and give them advise on what to do or try. beings that its an M6 i'm gonna go off on the limb and say drive it for about a week without a tune, see if the computer will learn for itself and then work from there if need be.

good luck with the cam and tell us how it goes!!!!!
