Question Leather seats

I am buying a Z and wanted to get some input about leather seats.

1 Are they as hot or cold as people say in the summer and winter?

2 Are they hard to take care of, lots of time or just wipe and go?

Thanks for any help guys.

As for being hot. YEP!
When I was looking for my Vert. I wanted cloth, but glad I didn't. Cloth would haver faded like crazy.

Leather to me is so much eaiser to maintain. Just some Zaino. I don't have to worry about stains.

IMHO leather seats are beautiful, but.....I think they wear out alot quicker and are more prone to dirt and they tend to crack with alot of use. I have white leather seats in the SS and they don't hold any heat in the summer, different if you have dark colored seats. The winters here are mild but you'll notice the cold when you first get in. If your going to use the Z for your daily driver, you'll notice where the seat belt rubs will start to wear, as will the seat area where your pants rub when you get in and out. I'd recommend getting a seat cover if your going to drive it daily.

I have a black Z28 with black leather. I live in south Florida and believe me it can get VERY hot down here. Yes, the leather can get very uncomfortable from the heat. But like the other guy said cloth can fade very easily where with leather it's easier to treat. I think personally it looks better than cloth even though it does lack in quality. Also, getting you're windows tinted can help a lot. As for maintenance, I find them very easy to clean. Depending on how much time they spend in the sun, make sure you clean and condition them every 2-3 weeks or theyll start to dry out and crack.

Thanks for the info guys, it helps alot. By the way, has anyone had a hard time getting Z28's? It has taken them 4 days to find the car I wanted. I was looking for a Black Z28, 6 speed, with most options.

There's a lot of leather contidioners on the market that will keep your seats from cracking. You can get them at most stores like Wal-Mart or Autozone. The decision between getting leather or cloth seats is more of an individual taste. I've owned both and I perfer leather, but like I said it's up to the individual buyer.

Thats what window tint is for. My black Z28 with black leather doesn't feel any hotter on a 90* day than my fiancees Subaru with cloth

Couple of times a year, I rub some leather conditioner into them and buff them dry. Thats it. GM leather sucks *** though, expect lots of "wear" spots.
