I feel your pain. My Z28 (an '01 M6) had to go back to the dealer for various issues no less than 4 times in the first 8 months of ownership. Some of it was small (rotors warped twice!), but still, that seems like an awful lot of warranty issues for a NEW car. My final solution was to get rid of it. Now I drive a little Japanese commuter while I lick my wounds and save up for my next "real" car (a C5 maybe?).

Hey guys,
Well if you read my little rant from yesterday on the first page of this thread, you know whats going on with my car. Well they called today and said my car was ready (keep in mind they've had it since Monday). I was SOOOOOOO excited to get rid of this stupid 2000 Buick Century they gave me as a loaner.
Well i get there, they replaced the O2 sensors, and the fuel injectors because they were supposedly faulty. Well I get in the car, drive off, and its doing the exact same mess it was doing when i dropped it off...FOUR DAYS AGO. I went back in raising hell and a mechanic finally road with me. He saw what i've been talking about for the last 2 months (5 dealership trips) and said he will work on it tomorrow.
My dealership experience has been an unbelievable nightmare. I bet if my car wasnt under warranty they would have found the problem and charged me out the wazoo!
I cant wait for the inevitable excitement tomorrow. :-(

Chris--I'm so sorry to hear that. I would definitely start going up the ladder if they don't fix it correctly this time. It makes me want to kill when dealerships act that way. Good luck man. As for mine, I dropped her off and am in a white Tracker. I guess I'm lucky I even get a loaner... I'll post as soon as I get it back. Chris, you keep us updated too!

I know how you feel...I've been to all three of the local Chevy dealerships around here and the service has been terrible. They either say they don't have time to look at the car and it will be 2-3 weeks or they tell me that the problem is normal.

By the time the car had 11,900 miles on it they had been in the rear end twice. Replaced the pinion bearing and shimmed it. The last time I took it in they told me they installed a BRAND NEW transfer case!?! The rotors warped by 7000 miles and the transmission started leaking fluid. They ended up rebuilding the transmission when it locked up on me on the way home from the dealership. I took it to two different ones and both told me they wouldn't be able to look at the car for at least two to three weeks and they refused to give me a loaner. On the way home it locked up and destroyed the tranny. The only gear that would work was first.

When I picked it up from the tranny rebuild they had put over 100 miles on the car and the clutch was slipping pretty bad. I didn't want to take the car back because they keep screwing stuff up so I installed the clutch myself. The dealership left TWO bolts on the tranny loose. I put my wratchet(spelling?) on them and it wouldn't even click. I ended up just twisting them off by hand. They also left one nut on each side of the y-pipe loose. They bent one of my tail pipes and left one of the caps off my lug nuts.

The rear end still whines, pops, rattles, and makes grinding noises like two rocks rubbing together. I was told this is normal. The car has 15,000 miles on it now. The transmission has started grinding some times and it popped out of third gear again the other day. The car is nine months old now...I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Transfer Case?

If they replaced that, maybe you have the elusive 4 wheel drive option......

Ask them if they replaced the flux capacitor in the Mr. Fusion coffee maker too.

I don't think I'd trust any of the dealerships around here to change my oil.

I called and asked them if they had figured out what was wrong with my rear end and the guy on the phone said the transfer case was cracked. When I picked the car up I asked the guy that handled my claim what they did to fix it and he told me that they installed a brand new transfer case. heh...I'm still looking for the switch. Might be fun to go offroad! ; )

Wow guys, this is a nightmare post!! I can call myself lucky then, I've got two F-bods, and nary a problem with either. Had the T/A's front rotors turned after 16K, in and out the same afternoon!! (helps to have a wife who's an "attorney at law"; handed the service manager her card, and he about **** himself ). I feel for you guys, you shouldn't have to fight the dealer, they get paid for warranty work by GM anyway.
Good luck to all of you!

Ok heres an update...
I just talked to the Service Manager and they want to keep my car until Monday. He said they replaced the PCM because it looked like there was water in it. He just took it for a drive and he said it seemed ok, but he wants to drive it when its cold and they're closed until Monday.
THIS mechanic is the one that i had drive it with me in the car last night and he seems to know his stuff, so i'm gonna trust him on this one.
I tell ya, I hope I never have a problem again with this car because I doubt i'll ever get dependable, COURTEOUS service. (tried several dealers)
Anyway, I'll let you guys know what happens Monday.
WISH ME LUCK!!!! (I need it like all holy hell)
Chris

Wow, some of you guys have really had nightmarish experiences at the dealership. I feel for youMy experiences with the dealer I go to have been pleasant enough, I just worry because I had to bring the car back. They called earlier today and said they wouldn't be able to get to it until Monday. That OK because it's winter and I'm putting mile son their loaner. If it were summer I'd be less happy. The first time I brought the car in for this same issue, they fixed it no questions asked. So they really didn;t cause me any problems. I just worry that this is going to be an on-going issue. We'll see...

I picked the car up after work. After driving it about 10 miles I decided it's OK...for now. It seemed to be fixed last time as well, but over time it got loud. We'll see. It just feels good to be back in the thing and out of the Tracker loaner!

It sounds like t me that you guys take your cars in with these complaints of the cars normal operation and the dealership plays with it to make you happy and they really don't know what they're doing anyway and the problem just snow *****. Pay attention when you test drive a car next time. Its just doesn't make sense that some of you guys are having problem after problem after problem when the rest of us have none. truthfully i would drive the car until it breaks down and then it will get fix right because everything will have to be replaced. that why they have road side assistance.

WhoBetter?,
You say i'm just complaining? My car literally had NO power and would barely stay running. That is NOT normal operation of a Camaro. Maybe you will accept that, but i wont accept that from a brand new car.
UPDATE...I got my car back today and it was the computer. It somehow had gotten water in it. They have no idea how, but th ey did fabricate a box to put the computer in so it wouldnt happen again. Problem solved.
Thanks for the support guys!

That's total BS. You have a currant draw. Somthing in the car is using a small amount of electrical power, it's not that hard to find.
Find a new dealer for your repair work.
