'01 & '02 cars don't have EGR valves. Just a breather tube. It is this breather tube that has to be connected to the additional dinky filter.

My '02 has 322 / 329 to the wheels with the mods listed below. That's around ~360 flywheel. The predator programming was still quite rich as well. I leaned it out a few bumps and really noticed a difference. Add a set of Hooker long tubes and off road Y pipe and it's gonna be real close to 400 at the flywheel. With cam and/or heads go figure what it would be then. I have yet to install the 160 degree thermostat either.

Total $ for power mods would be:

$419 Predator & TStat (TByrne GP)
$100 DMS Lid
$0 Free Ram Air
$800 Hooker Long Tubes and ORY (Rear O2 sensors ignored by custom Diablosport programming).

~$500 Cam & kit
~$1500 - $2500 Heads

Ok let's get some correct info out.

All aftermarket lids remove the factory lid and the air silencers.

00-02s have the hose into the lid and it's the intake hose for the AIR pump that runs for about a minute after startup. It's not just the 01-02s and it has nothing to do with the EGR.

On the 98s & 99s the AIR pump inlet hose is unfiltered and this caused some pump failures. So to reduce warrantee costs the new ones take in filtered air.

Best bang for the buck on the f-body hands down. Get one! The SLP for 2000-2002 has a hose to hook up the breather, looks real clean. I like mine!

Thumbs up

I bought my Z about 6 weeks ago. Before I even got the car I bought the SLP blem lid, very good deal. The car was more responsive with the new lid.

Then I added a Hooker cat back and the combination of the two are great!

I am very picky about my car and the SLP lid is the best in my own opinion. The all in one design is very clean looking!

I had the Whisper Lid and it is not constructed very well and is made from brittle plastic. The one I had cracked in two places and the fit was marginal. I bought the LS1 Motorsports Direct Flo Lid and it better quality and fits like a glove. They have them for $95 and that is a great price and I could not be happier.

Actually, I know of 3 TB Mods.

1. Port and polish the TB
2. TB coolant bypass mod
3. Grind the hardstop to allow the blade to be a 90* or 4.7Vdc.
