LM question

How loud is the LM.........is it like a cut-out loud or louder?
How about installing the SLP y-pipe will it make the loudmouth louder than it is?
I also heard that cut-outs would give better gains than the LM.....Is it true..?

Its loud, but isn't obnoxious until you get headers. It is basically a cutout. There is no muffler, just an expansion chamber.

A friend of mine has a cutout and its louder than that. I love my Loudmouth. Definately my favorite mod. Especially around 2000rpms. As far as gains couldn't tell you.

LM, longtubes and cats is even real loud and raspy, time for me to look into another system or at least a real muffler, local cop called my exhaust system the 2-mile exhaust WOT and you can hear it for two miles!!! Scares the hell out of people.

My friend ha a LM on his '01 Z28 along with SLP's y-pipe. He says the y-pipe makes the car sound so much better. He met a guy w/a LM w/o the y-pipe and said his car didn't sound as good as his.

I like the LM. I just installed a Magnaflow muffler and it's too quiet. I'm actually considering a LM myself. The sound is really good and.

I have the LM with LT headers and a ypipe it is very loud and a little raspy but IMO that is the way a muscle car should sound! you should let people know that you have a v8

Thumbs up

I'm running an LM "Dynomouth" conversion with SLP's Y-pipe here on stock cats/manifolds.

Sounds VERY deep but nowhere near being too loud. The y-pipe will help flow a little but makes more of a difference in providing a deeper tone.

If you get a LM/Y-pipe combo and it's too loud you can always replace the "resonator" with a dynomax bullet.
Worked great for me and many others.

Its loud, but not quiet as loud as you'd expect it to be.. Its mostly a good kind of loud though. It sounds even better outside the car.. The cats and y-pipe muffle the sound enough to make it bearable everyday.

Its loud enough that my gf can hear me coming home, while she's inside the house. People will think your racing around at double the speed cause it sounds mean. That is probably the biggest drawback.

One time, I had these two Civics pull beside me and just playfull rev their engine.. I gave em a few revs to 3000 rpms and they nodded.. then I gave it a quick rev to 6000 and the passanger jumped back from shock. LMAO

I'd bet the best sounding exhaust would be LT headers, no cats, true duals with a good muffler to filter out all the raspy stuff and leaving only the low-range sounds.
