Looking for an LS1
Im looking for a somewhere that I can get a LS1 crate motor for a decent price. I found a place near by that has them but its almost 10,000 dollars for the motor alone. anybody know of any place that has a better price?

I'm pretty sure you can get a turn-key LS1 (or even LS6) for quite a bit less than that direct from GMPP.
EDIT: Berger Chevrolet (a GMPP dealer) will sell you an LS6 crate motor for $6300. Prices will vary slightly from dealer to dealer, but the list price is $7300. The LS1 is only a couple hundred dollars less.

EDIT 2: Depending on what you're putting the engine in, you might need the engine controller kit ($1015):

EDIT 3: A 480hp LS3 crate motor is only $7800! Whatever you do, don't pay ten grand for an LS1.

If you want a top notch organization, check this place out.
http://www.katechengines.com/katech_inc/ They build the
C6R race engines for Chevy, Cadillac and some others. But be forewarned, they have engines that cost 2 to 5 times your 10k ammount.

Meh.. You can buy an entire LS1 car for 6-7k. Why buy just the engine? Worst case, steal the engine out of it and sell the rest of the car as a roller for $2k and get some money back. Either that, or get a used LS1 engine for dirt cheap and build it the way you want it.
What exactly are you trying to buy and what are you using it for? You can visit one of our sponsors for built motors.
