Question Lowering questions

Those of you who have lowered their cars, did you have to buy caster/camber plates in order to correct the alignment? Or is this a stupid question b/c they come factory on Camaro/Trans Am?
What did you lose for ride quality, ie going over bumps?
Is there a nice spring/shock package that allows a near stock ride comfort when lowered?
What is ideal lowering height?

I lowered my 5.0 and am too cheap to buy c/c plates and so I get minor scalping on the insides of my tires. And I wont even start about the ride quality... I'll just leave it at poor.

Thanks guys.

I have sportlines, pics are in the sig. Its a 1.8" drop in the front and 1.7" in the rear.

To correctly lower a car you should do LCA relocation brackets, and an adjustable panhard rod. Stock shocks will be okay for a while but they will eventually give. Some people swear that getting new LCAs are necessary also.

If you do get new shocks, you wont have to shoot the stock spring off the shock. Thats scary. This assuming you're doing the work yourself...

What do you mean "shoot" the stock springs off? When I did my Mustang's they were a joke to get off.
What about caster/camber plates and best shock-spring combo?
Thanks.
