ls1 or 2 swap for 3.8 v6 whats involved

I am mulling over the idea of swapping the 3.8 out of my wifes 2000 Firebird, she wants a new car, i have an lt-1 Transam, but i aint trading her firebird, it only has 40k, i did a ramair hood, and ground effects, with a new red paint job, i was thinking of going with an ls style motor, the car is an automatic, i am pretty sure the trans and rear are the same on a v-6. Whats involved?

off the top of my head...if you're wanting to do an LSx swap into a 98+ auto bird...

-engine + harness
-trans
-trans brace
-rearend unless you want an open diff
-fans and radiator, not necessary but might want to anyways

i'm in the process of gathering everything for my 3.4 to LS1 swap...it's a bit more involved than you'd think but you're in a better position than i am seeing as i have a 3.4. i wish i had a 3.8 it'd be a bit easier...

you're probably going to spend anywhere from 4200-5500 in the swap.

goodluck!

You'll do much better selling the car, buying a higher mileage LS1 car, then freshening the motor up to your likings.

Higher mileage LS1 car = $6000-7000
Sell your car = A few thousand
$2000-3000

Rebuilt motor with some nasty goodies =
$3000-4000.

Total out of pocket = $5000-7000 for a 400+ rwhp car.

Look around.
