LS1 brakes larger than LT1s??

I've got a '99 SS and I bought some steel rims with snow tires off a guy that had a '94 Firebird. They are 225/50 16.

When I went to install them today, it seems to be rubbing the brake caliper.

Can somebody confirm that the LS1 brakes are larger than the LT1s??

Thanks!

Yep

Yes they are slightly bigger on the new models. I did not know the wheels would not interchange though . The manual says that 235/55/16 or 245/50/16 for tires on them. The rim you have sounds too narrow. Later>>>>>>>

Yes LS1 brakes are larger than LT1 brakes. I think the LT1 rotors are 10" and the LS1 rotor is 11.8".

The problem isn't the tire, but the wheel. SLP sells take off 16x8 Firebird wheels for $50 each.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess this means that if I go with a wider rim I'll have to spring for new tires too?!?

just get a set of salad shooters or '97-99 5 stars. those are pretty dang cheap now, especially the salad shooters! '93-96 salad shooters might need a tiny bit of grinding on the part that goes over the hub protrusion.

that and the pads are bigger, and the caliper are a two piston side by side design now.
