LS1 conversion into the unthinkable...
#17
Whooooops... forgot to post the pictures... here is a link to pictures of the LS1 Inside... there are a few other albums showing some of the stuff I have endured so far...
The motor fits... I have removed it now for some mods I need to do to the independent front suspension... gotta lower the front differential housing to make a little more clearance for the oil pan... nothin I didn't already need to do though since I cranked my torsion bards to lift the VX.
I have a friend coming over on the 8th (February) to weld my motor mounts up and some other stuff... basically... after that, I will be down to wiring issues (lots of them) and my transfer case issue... not a big deal... just gotta figure out which directio to go.
Talked to Novak Adaptors about adapting my T-case to the 4L60E... Eric there seems to think anything can be done... I have to swap my output shaft out of my tranny to the shorter 4x4 output shaft... and then get a custom adaptor plate made to bolt my t-case up. With the way the t-case is clocked and with the front diff being lowered... I should be able to clear the oil pan... gonna be tight though.
Steve-
Sorry its taken my so long to post... or even get pictures for you... you need to email me at rreed17@kc.rr.com so I can get YOUR email address. Anyway... the TT kit was sold on that last trip I made down to Sarasota with the Gold WS6... now I wish I still had it! lol That would be WAY kewl! Oh well... live and learn... and NO I'm not gonna make a third attempt at TT ownership... this is NOT a case of "third times a charm".
TTYL!

Wow, that engine fits in there pretty tight. How are you going to get air to it? I knw now yuo won't be using the butt pipe. But you know these engines need LOTS of air to make their power. What are you gonna do Randal? How about cooling issues? O' I guess I should have asked my now, how's Mitch?
