Ls1 mass air flow question

Will having a air filter connected directly to the mass air flow senser cause it not to read correctly .The car has problems idleing only when it is cold out for the first 10 minutes . Once the car gets warm it idles great . When it is warm out on its firts start of the day it idles like it should . The reason i am asking this question is while the car was runnig rough on a cold morning i unpluged the mass air flow and the car smoothed out but as soon as i connected back it went to running rough until the engine warmed up .

Any info would be appreciated , Thanks.

Not sure what your setup is, air filter directly to the MAF? Where's the IAT sensor? Disconnecting the MAF is something to try during troubleshooting MAF codes like P0102, but you didn't mention a SES light.

It shouldn't run rough like that with your setup. If it runs rough when cold and better when it warms up, it could be in the tune or the MAF. When it's cold and the oxygen sensors aren't being used to measure A/F, it uses a preset fuel table and the MAF together to adjust how much fuel to dump into the motor. When the engine warms up, the oxygen sensors become active and the motor then measures A/F by all three.

Most of the time, people have the opposite problem and the problem is their oxygen sensors.

What mods do you have? It is throwing any codes?
