i've done the free ram air and it really doesn't help in my opinion but it's free so oh well. the only thing is it'll get your air filter dirty faster.

The free mods will not hurt your car, I've done the EGR free mod, MAF free mod, and free ram air mod. Afterwards I experienced a tad bit more throttle response and my temp. gauge reads about 5-8 degrees cooler (from 180 down to 173 F.) which is very good!!! Especially if it's free, so I would recommend them.

I track-tested the FRA earlier this month. I was thinking that it might actually hurt performance since it was 95 degrees out and the track temp was over 120 degrees. My best pass with the FRA blocked off was an 11.96 @ 112 MPH with a 1.62 60'. My very next pass with the FRA working, I clicked off an 11.85 @ 113 MPH with a 1.62 60'. My best pass that day with the FRA working was an 11.80 @ 113.5 MPH with a 1.62 60'. Not too bad for a density altitude over 3,000'.

My free mods:
TB bypass (keeps incoming air cooler)
Throttle stop mod (allows throttle blade to open all the way)
EGR mod (takes that pipe out of the middle of the engine's airway)
Thermostat mod (allows you to lower the opening point of the t-stat)
FRA (a must do mod, more throttle response after 40 mph)
My 'cheap' mods:
Fernco bellows ($4, smooths airflow into TB)
Automatic fan switch ($20, turns the fans on much sooner than the computer will)
New style PCV ($3, for 98s, will reduce octane robbing oil in intake)
Dynomouth cat-back ($140, professionally installed, parts, labor, and shipping)
My expensive mods:
Lid ($100, less than exhaust, but just a cheap piece of plastic)
With these mods: 318 rwhp/334 ft lbs
Okay I guess, since 98s are known for about 280 rwhp stock.
My .02
Dave

Z28-CTYHNTR,
Assuming your sig is correct, and you have a 2002, you don't have EGR...
