Post LT1 Or LS1... Need Your Input..

No Flames Please

I currently have a 97 Ws6 with low low milage..

I could spend 5,000CDN and get my heads done, converter and a cam put into my LT1 and prob run mid 12s..

OR

I can buy a 99-00Ws6 for the same cash it would take to mod my LT1..

My car is basically brand new and I trust the LT1 engine.. However I dont trust the LS1

My friend has a newer corvette and it sucks oil like no tomorrow, another friend with a 99Ws6 said hes fed up with his oil consumption problem and wished he never would have gotten an Ls1..

One part of me says stick with the Lt1 and the other says get the Ls1..

Which one should I choose..

I am sure it is all relative to your experiences. I find that my LT1 was dayum fast.. but... it was more problems than it was worth.. After heads and roller rockers it spun a bearing.. thats not fun.. especially after having the heads and all off not more than a 1 month earlier.. So my point is that it is all going to be based off or your preference. I like my "truck" cammed LS1.. its got loads of torque and it pulls nicely through all the gears.

I am happier with my new car just because there are no more worries with it.. (well, I worry when I go to the store that some fool will scratch it..)
hehe

since your car is practically new, why not take the heads/cam/tc route? "probably run 12s"?????
get a xe230/236 cam, nice heads, and ~3500 converter and say hello to 11's. LSwhat?

If your car is still under warranty, and uses an excessive amount of oil, you can return it to any dealer, where they will replace the top compression rings, as there has been a factory tech bulletin released concerning this problem(can't remember the bulletin #).. I purchased a 2002 Z28 last March, and was gentle with it for the first 1,000 miles, and then drove it like a high performance car.. At the 3,000 mile oil change, the motor used no more than 1pt.(probably helped seat the rings). I have no complaints with oil consumption, and for 310hp bone stock, as well as the best small engine GM has ever made,, it's a no brainer!! Don't you think??

i bought my Z28 in May with 38k miles.
now i have 45k miles and i have had NO oil comsumption AT ALL.
its mainly with how the owner has treated the engine
i would take an LS1 anyday over an LT1 (no offense LT1 guys, those were the kings of their day as well)
