LT1 -> LS1 swap

Im taking my 95 LT1 and swapping it with a LS1 Engine, what will I need for the swap over? Motor Mounts?, Wiring harness? And if I put ls1 hedders on with Hpipe will I need custom fab. to fit the LT1 exhaust from cat-back?

You need a complete Ls1 with wiring harness and a k-member for an Ls1.
The catback is basically the same but some modding will be necessary.

This has been a regular topic lately. I'm beginning why folks don't just mod the existing LT1s? Is it the weight penalty?

Maybe it is because of the superior power numbers the LS1 offers right out of the box that catches LT1 owners attention. I was considering it for awhile myself, but since I have already accumlated most of my LT1 specific valvetrain parts to do the heads/cam swap on my car, I have rethought that idea.

OK, so a LS1 gives you about 50rwhp over a LT1 stock. To me it would seem far easier to get 50 more HP out of the LT1, than to go with all the aggravation of wiring harness/computer issues. Is the Opti the deal-breaker?

I've driven a 2000 Z28 with a 4 spd auto and my 95 Z28 6-spd could kill that from a dig and the 2000 I'd say is as fast as my car, Sure feels like it anyway

How a car feels like it runs and how quick it actually is can be two different things. What does your 95 run? Stock A4 LS1's run mid to low 13's. I know it took my friend's 93 Firehawk full bolt ons to get 13.3X.

My L98 sure felt fast when it was stock, but that didn't mean it was... Stock vs. stock a LS1 has about 40-50rwhp and .5 sec advantage on a LT1. What that has to do with the topic at hand...? Anyways, if I had a LT1 F-body, I'd probably just do a mild heads/cam/bolt-ons and be right there with lightly modded LS1s for WAY less drama than an engine swap. Now if my engine was grenaded and I happened to have a spare LS1 laying around...maybe.

Order the motor from CrateEngineDepot.Com. You can get the whole kit except the K-member and the exhaust manifolds. I know cause I've got a 95LT1 and i'm doing the same thing. What I've found out that the big difference between the LT1 and the LS1 is that the LS1 is litterally built better right out of the box. From the block to the stock heads it is built to handle stronger compression and more power added on. But It's your car so you do what your budget allows, since thats the only thing that really determines what you do.

the advantage to an ls1 is its the knew 5.0 that was in the fox body mustang, every body makes everything for that motor bolt ons, to heads, cam, internals, & even blocks now. lt1s are slowly starting to die out just like the old L98 TPI cars did , its still not that had to find parts but eventuly it will be. look how many web sites you go to looking for lt1 stuff and its not there anymore. I just got a 02 WS6 and love it , but still wont get rid of my 96 ss

it is so not worth the hassle. a h/c LT1 is not that friggin far behind a h/c LS1...

i did the swap 4 years ago after stumbling upon a wrecked '99 SS i bought for $3,000.

I remember that article, that guy lives pretty close to me and he didn't spend a whole lot on that swap at all. Some people know how to find the deals I guess.
