the advantage to an ls1 is its the knew 5.0 that was in the fox body mustang, every body makes everything for that motor bolt ons, to heads, cam, internals, & even blocks now. lt1s are slowly starting to die out just like the old L98 TPI cars did , its still not that had to find parts but eventuly it will be. look how many web sites you go to looking for lt1 stuff and its not there anymore. I just got a 02 WS6 and love it , but still wont get rid of my 96 ss

What I've found out that the big difference between the LT1 and the LS1 is that the LS1 is litterally built better right out of the box. From the block to the stock heads it is built to handle stronger compression and more power added on. But It's your car so you do what your budget allows, since thats the only thing that really determines what you do.

I thought I remember hearing that the ls1 was a slightly taller engine (overall) than the lt1. That was the reason for the front end change in 1998. I dont know though. It cant be that big of a difference if people have done it. Anyone have any insight on this?
