is it bad to take off the screen on your MAF???? some ppl say take it off because it limits air intake, while others say leave it on or you will damage your car... which is it?!

 

gains are unfounded. some say they exist...some say they are BS

all i know is that i had to tear my motor apart to retrieve a stray hose clamp that got sucked up. not sure how it happened, but if my screen had been in tact....it wouldn't have happened and would ahve saved me $2500

 

Don't mess with it. A lid will remove the biggest restriction on your intake setup. Removing the MAF screen is NOT worth any results you MAY see, and will result, more often than not, a poorly running engine.

 

Yea, I descreened mine and it started running severely lean. I don't recommend it on the LS1's.

 

well shiiiteee. haha, i took my MAF out today to look at it and theres not even a screen in there. any advice or help? should i just get a new one?

 

if the car is running fine...leave it.

maybe keep your eye out for an unmolested maf housing on ebay or the For Sale forum...

it's not a huge deal...hundreds of guys run no screens...i have a descreened and ported MAF and have had no ill-affects for over 5yrs.

did it gain me hp? cost me hp? no idea....
