Magnaflow VS Corsa

Magnaflow VS Corsa
I will be installing a cat-back on my Z28. I have been looking at these two systems. I like what I've heard about the Corsa, excellent sound under throttle., But won't upset the neighbors when you keep your foot out of it. I have also heard that it won't give you a headache when your just cruising, i.e. no resonance. On the down side, the corsa carries a premium price and I'll have to wait for delivery.
The magnaflow has a nice throaty sound which I like. It is also resonably priced and readily available (local muffler shops have it in stock). But does it have the resonating drone that many cat-backs have. I occasionally take 8+ hour road trips and would prefer to eliminate all resonance possible. Also will it annoy my neighbors at light throttle (I leave for work early).
I realize the cat-back question has been beaten to death. But a search has not produced a thread comparing these two systems.
Thanks in advance

From everything that I have heard I would go with the adjustable Borla Catback, you can simply adjust the flow and sound from semi-quiet to throaty and more power. I can't afford either so I am going with straight up power and putting a $35 exhaust cutout on my car so I can keep the stock exhaust flow and sound when I want and then open it up and have free flowing exhaust when I want more power.

DYNOMAX is what I have on my '98.Not sure how loud you want the sound. My exhaust is just a tiny bit louder than stock but it has a nice throaty rumble. There is absolutely no resonance inside the car. Also,it's just about the most free-flowing mufflered exhaust available.Just thought I'd throw another idea at you

Thats funny you mentioned that. After a long weekend of wondering Dynomouth or Corsa... I was deciding mabey it might be better to go cutout/stock exhaust. Its cheap gives power and you can either have noise or no noise at all. I think Im about 75% sure im gonna go with an electric cutout.

A cutout will be a nice, cheap, easy mod that will show the same performance gain at the track. The plus to catbacks is the sound and not having to open a cutout for max performance, but you can't beat the price of a cutout vs. a catback! We have the Flow-Tech cutouts in stock for $39.99 if you're interested.

I've been very pleased with my Magnaflow system. I like it even more after the FLP's. I knew it was the right system when I went to car shows and actually got compliments from muscle car guys. It's nice and deep, but not overly loud. The quality of mine was also top notch.

Mike does your Magnaflow system resonate or drone in the 2000 - 3000 RPM range? This is a particular concern for me. I occasionally go for a long road trip (to No. CA.) and cruise in 6th. This usually puts my RPMs around 2000 -2200 RPMs. The last thing I need on an 8 hr. road trip is an exhaust drone ringing in my ears. So have you experienced any annoying resonance with your system. Thanks again for your input

Well I guess one guy should respond with Corsa. I love mine. Looks wise, it really sets off the rear. Sound wise, it is mean as hell, and I'm told with headers it only gets better. Quality, you just can't beat it. I agree it is a little pricey, but once you open the box and begin the install you see the engineering they have but into this system. I have some pictures on my site, sorry it isn't linked.

Don't worry about drone with the Magnaflow. There isn't any. I swapped out my stock SS muffler for the Magnaflow and love the sound. No drone, but throaty when it counts. And when you look through the muffler before they install it, it is straight through so there is no significant restriction. Couldn't recommend it more.

Most mufflers now adays don't have terrible drone unless you go with a chambered muffler like a flowmaster 2 chamber. What happens is they use walls to reflect the sound inside the muffler giving it an echo type sound inside the muffler. With my borla i pretty much get none, unless my rear seat is down and the hatch flap is out, thats without a plate also.
