Major differences in Z28/SS
Okay, my friend and I have a little arguement about the differences between the Z28 and the SS camaros for 98-02. Can anyone please clarify and please be specific. Also, I know that you are all Camaro lovers, but come on...

Hood, spoiler, wheels, exhaust (less restrictive), suspension (firmer), bigger front sway bar, and many standard options such as 3.23s.

sway bars, and the pretty little hood. same engine same car. except for i think 00 or 01. ls1 got the ls6 intake. and 5 additional (outta the closet) HP. but everything else is the same. comparing the two cars it only comes down to transmission type, and drivers.

So lets say I am in the market for a new Maro, if you guys were me would you get the Z28 or spend the extra 5K for the SS?

See.. first you gotta shoot the horse. Then after it is dead proceed to beat it. Just when you think you have beat it long enough you change sticks and beat it some more.

$$$$$...and what youve heard hood spoiler...etc
check out my z28 its got all ss crap and way less then 5k
get z28 and whisper ram air....buyt it from me for 100 and youll be beating stock ss because their ram air sucks.... im not offending ss but im just stating the facts....ss is for the more serious person like collector number...and so on

If you can afford the extra money? Why not. Do you like the looks of the SS?
If I had it to do over I would probably do the SS. Everyone (most Camaro guys anyway) knows there's not much difference in performance- but you do get to act snobby. Seriously, I like the SS hood a lot. The Z28 hood maybe a little boring.

Yep, but I do prefer the Z28 spoiler so keep it. Although, a lowered black SS is about as sweet as you get, IMHO.

I got a Z28.. Why do I want a non functional ram air hood? Why would I want their (SLP) exhaust? Why do I need 17" wheels? Why would I spend more for a car that isnt worth more (argueable since z28 had lower build numbers than SS)? Why would I spend more for a car that isnt faster?
For me its simple. I prefer cars that are overlooked more. I prefer to be the underdog that beats the over priced. This is my second Z28.. My last was a 1995 LT1 that was running low 13's on street tires with hardly any mods.. (water pump, Y-pipe, catback and cold air)..
My new car is a 2002 with no mods whatsoever.. it put down 307RWHP/328RWTQ at a Lingenfelter authorized shop (yes, he was there too!) and then I did another dyno 3000 miles later.. I put down 305RWTQ/327RWTQ.. All of this bone stock with only 1 oil change...
Tomorrow at 10am I will dyno before and after I change all of my fluids.. We shall see...
Still bone stock mind you..

It would cost more to add all the SS stuff to a Z28 but if you just want the hp of a SS thats not too hard to do to a Z28. That extra cost for the SS holds it resale value pretty well.
