Post Mecham Hoods

How bad are these hoods if anyone could let me know. Planning on buying one in the future. Any feedback would be helpful.
Thanks

I've got one on my car, it gets nothing but compliments. See if you can get it unfinished from him since your shop is going to have to refinish it anyway. I have a few nicks and some small stress cracks but any good body shop should be able to take care of that. It fit a lot better than I thought and it looks great. Let me know if you want me to send you the pictures of some of the small issues I had with it and the finished product. Other than that it's a great hood.

Coolest looking hoods on the market.

Most expensive hoods on the market, by a factor of 30-40%.

Worst fitting hood on the market.

Most expensive hood to install, due to body work to try and fit.

It's your call, you have to decide if the overall look is important enough for you to spend the extra money for a hood with a "few small issues".

Quite frankly, for the $$ you will spend for a Mecham, you can pick up a used stock hood for $50 to $100 take it to a good fabricator and they can modify it to look how ever you want. Then since it's stock, the fit will be fine. A body shop will have to do minimal adjustment and fitting - just paint.

Good Luck

If you can send me the pics before and after I'd appreciate, also if you can tell me how much it cost you all together with the body shop fixing it. Email: Lukey2i@aol.com,
Thanks.

I love the hood, I wouldn't mind spending 960 for it, there isn't many of them outhere, haven't seen one on a car yet. But if there is too much to fix, than I believe it isn't worth the cost.

my old mans got an 02 mecham. its def. a sweet car.
as for the hood, there were only 2 blemishes on it. on the drivers side of the heat extractors there a few ripples that were not worked out but they are not very deep at all. you can only see it if your looking down the hood from the drivers doorway. the other is on the right front where the headlight meets the corner of hte hood the hood was a little tall in that corner. I adj the headlamp cover a little higher in that corner and youd never know it even if you were looking over the hood.
for the improved looks, I think its def. worth it. not too many of those around. Plus, you can have the awesome hoodbird put on too. my dads car is black w/silver bird. it looks soooo sweet. got pics but cant put them in my comp. cause somethings either wrong w/my comp. or my camera. it keeps reseting the pc when I try to download pics.

The mecham gets a lot of looks, but it does come with a lot of problems. I loved it on my old car (see pics in sig), but I sure don't miss it now...
good luck,
Shane

shane, just curious what kind of problems did you have and what did they have to do w/the conversion? dads car only has 800 mi.s on it, but it certainly doesnt have any problems right now. chris

Sorry, I meant problems with the hood. I did not have a converted car, just the hood added... I had fitment and quality issues with the hood. Did I mention I just had the hood?
