Which mod?
i have a 99 z28, mods are listed below, i have like 500 - 600$ saved to spend on the car, i was hoping you guys could give me some input on what mod to buy next, im looking for something that wont cost too much to install or that i could do myself that will add a significant amount of power and lower 1/4 time. thanks

Headers all the way, engines are glorified airpumps and you want it to flow as freely as possible. A set of pacesetter's an ory should be right in your price range youll also see about 20hp gain but by doing this you also set it up for further mods such as the ls6 manifold, heads, cam so on. If your thinking of throwing a cam in there you'll definitely want the headers

Gears im assuming he can' do himself. If you are talking only for the track, why not some sticky DR's? I know you may not be able to install these, but they will cut your time down a bunch!

flowtech headers and ORY for 330 bucks, plus non electric cutout for another 30 bucks, lid if you don't have one Don't forget to port your throttle body, the tools are cheap and will net you a few ponies 2-5. more than that with heads/cam, I've seen dynos show 10 rwhp. you could get a cheap cam, and just read over the install and take your time, its not that hard. Headers are real easy, just time consuming for people that have never done them before. Nitrous is super cheap and will net huge gains, depending on how much you go with. I love having gears, but headers is more to my liking.

thanks guys, thats what i was lookign for... this car is my ever day driver, i do enjoy racing and though, so i dont think i m gonna get gears, i wanna have some gas milage (i drive 25miles to work everyday) but im seriously lookign into headers

I would consider gears in the future since they do add lots of performance, and with the double overdrive of our tranny it really doesn't eat gas mileage like you would think. As a matter of fact I haven't seen any reduction in mileage since my gears, unless I floor it everywhere I go, and even then its not like "wow my gas mileage just took a dump" If you lose any its gonna be barely noticable, some people claim to get better mileage in city driving cause of the added torque and not having to push the gas down as much to get the car moving. As far as racing its made the car much more fun to drive and you'll still trap the quarter mile in 4th gear with 4.10's My freinds saturn pegs 2900 rpm at 70 mph in high gear, mine pegs 1900 rpm at 70 in 6th gear, so its still a very low rpm.

you didnt tell us anything about the car other than the mods.. didnt tell us if its spinning out of the hole or if its hooking already..
if you want power and quicker 1/4 mile times for 500-600 get some spray and be done with it..
but most people want a mod that is on the car 100% of the time.
For those I suggest:
#1 - Driver mod.. Learn to master your car.. It will net you the most gain per mod
#2 - If you need traction, look at a couple of drag radials, some LCA's, a panhard and maybe even a STB to even up the stiffness once you get the others.. A Subframe connector wont hurt either.. I would also throw on an Air Lift airbag in the right rear tire..
#3 - If you have traction and want power. get rid of that K&N filter and put in a paper one.. theres a couple HP for ya.. Maybe an LS6 intake.. The reason I dont start harping on HEADERS is that if you were like me, I wouldnt want $600 headers.. I would want $1200 headers.

many have tested it (I have done over 40 passes on a dyno on 2 seperate days.. testing paper vs aftermarket filters with and without lids)
Paper shows 3rwhp more while others lose 3rwhp.

$500 huh? Since you have an M6, i'd say headers. an alternative would be simply to save up for a cam/head swap, but if you have headers, you'll notice more of a gain.
