My TR224 cammed car runs out of steam at 5000rpm!! Please help.

My graph starts flattening out at 5000rpm and a tr224 should pull to 6000+ rpm, even the dyno tuners/installers were confused and they have a good reputation.

It only made 348.5rwhp and 359.2rwtq

With all my mods it should have been 375rwhp, I don't know what could be wrong.

This is a dyno I found online of a tr224 in a LS1 gto without an intake and underdrive pulley, the cam pulls to 6000-6300?????

Both cars had 340 rwhp @ 5000rpm

Mods are TR224 cam, pac springs, comp cams pushrods, mac mids + Y with carsound high flow bullet cats, underdrive pulley, msd wires, intake, kandn, hooker aerochamber exhaust, vettedoctors dyno tune, smooth bellow, FRAM, TBB.

It may have mineral oil in there too. Changing it out monday.

First of all: Not all auto cars are going to make 375 rwhp with a TR224 cam. That's actually on the higher side for auto cars.

Secondly: Your car is peaking around 5500 according to that graph, but the graph is so small that it's hard to interpret it. That's not really a huge concern because the 224 cam is on the smaller side and doesn't make a ton of power high. It's more mid-rpm - 6200 rpm cam.

I wouldn't be TOO worried. It looks like nothing mechanical is at fault (installation of the camshaft, etc) but could either be attributed to a "tame" tune or those crappy Mac Mids. Those headers are straight garbage -- I had a set and I doubt they were any better than shorties. Get a new pic of the dyno chart so we can see your A/F ratio and stuff like that. Wow much total timing was used in the tune?

Also, FRAM filters suck ***. I'd get rid of that unless you want to see quirky oil-pressure issues. Use an AC Delco or Mobil-1.

Thanks Kraest, My sheet didn't have the A/F on it. I figured out that the low numbers were due to the dyno (dyno dynamics, aka heart breaker. I've found dynos online of back to back runs being up to 20% off compared to the dynojet but I'm pretty sure vette doctors knows how to set up their dyno so it's probally about 5% lower readings vs a dynojet. I got a dynojet done before the parts and I made 316rwhp. Figuring that 5% loss its about 370rwhp which I'm happy with.

I know the Mac mids aren't the best but I'm pretty sure they are alot better than shorties, In the future I may go for some catted american racing headers since they are produced right next to vette doctors where I went!

BTW, FRAM was Free Ram Air Mod, it has a K&N filter.

Take it to the track and report your MPH. Probably give us a better indication of where your at. Dynos can be all over the place # wise.

One car could dyno 420rwhp on one dyno, then go to another and dyno 390rwhp.

Ahhhh.. Yeah, you can't really compare dyno numbers unless you are at least comparing two of the same BRAND of dynos!

Even comparing the Dynojet 224 vs. the Dynojet 248 is apples and oranges because the 224 can be flash-calibrated where the 248 is factory-calibrated.

All of my dyno runs were on a 248.

I wasn't comparing. I was just stating that I pulled 316 since you were assuming I have a weak LS1.

?

You assume that I was assuming?

Full Bolt-on LS1s usually put down around 330-340rwhp.

I'm not sure what exactly you're getting at, but all I was saying is that if it wasn't done on a Dynojet, then you have nothing to compare it to and no reason to be all ansy.

What is the exhaust like after the cats?

Graph looks like a volumetric efficiency problem.

Air in or air out - exhaust choking it is a distinct possibility.

I would like to see the timing and air/fuel information.
